Hi all,
I have Crystalbuntu XBMC loaded on my Apple TV 1. The sound plays fine when watching videos from a USB flash drive. However, when I try to stream a video, I get no sound.
I am using an Optical connection to a 5.1 receiver.
I have tried changing 5.1 sound down to 2.0, thinking that maybe the streaming source was in stereo, no joy.
Does anyone have any ideas?
it probably has to do with the media type more than if it's on a USB drive or being streamed.
When you say streamed, do you mean it's coming from an add-on, or that it's coming from a network share?
Hi Ned, it's coming from an add-on and occurs with multiple add-ons. I haven't tried streaming across my network yet because my router is still too locked down.
maybe if you post an xbmc.log... otherwise, it's just a guessing game.
Enable debug logging from System settings, System, Debugging then restart XBMC. Play a video that has working sound for a couple if minutes, then play a stream that has no sound. Close XBMC and pop the log on
http://pastebin.com/ and post the link here. See
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Log_File for how to get at the log file.

Thank you. It appears something was wrong with my settings, because I fiddled with and changed to IEC/IEC and it worked on all the files I tried this morning, not just on the ones from the flash drive.
The next time I have a problem, I'll follow the advice above and post the log. Thanks so much for the responses.
