Hello,

After upgrade to "Eden" RC1, program does not work anymore. It crashes on epg import, with following message:
Code:
19:28:16 T:140431278786304   DEBUG: AddOnLog: Tvheadend HTSP Client: ParseEvent - malformed event

Entire crash log:
http://pastebin.com/vgcdXprC

So, what's wrong? Beta3 works fine. Tvheadend support seems to be more broken on each xbmc version, I expected RC1 to be more stable than beta3, but it didn't happen Sad

That's my impression too Angry ... In the beginning I was really surprised about tvheadend, the xbmc support and how easily it could be installed .. but after some upgrades I'm getting more and more crashes, EPG doesn't work any longer flawlessly and so .. development of tvheadend self doesn't seem to make any progresses, you don't get answers and help in the lonelycoder forum .. It seems to be almost dead Shocked ..

I will switch in near future to VDR .. much more active community and a lot of neat stuff like EPG-Web grabbers ...

The tcp layer needed to be replaced in order to solve other problems. I think the problem you have described is already identified.
I hope you are right, but in my situation rc1 is completly useless, it won't even start - it crashes at start.

So, do you know any workaround?
Go back to Beta3?
Already did it, but I mean solution how to use rc1 (if possible).
I don't think anyone is going to provide a workaround. As i can imagine they'd rather spend there time fixing it for RC2 then spending there time on describing a workaround.

hope, we'll have soon the update of the ppa ...

btw. I have crashes on startup but if I kill xbmc and restart it, it works. It also helped to deactivate "last channel startup" in Setting->Live-TV ..
might be an idea to create a ticket for it on github or trac then, as it says in my signature?

Principally you're right .. but I don't like that "register here and register there, create accounts and safe passwords ..." .. That's tinged with bureaucracy Wink - "please don't forget to submit your request in triplicate" Rofl

But if it helps I'll do ..

ppa does not matter, I always compile xbmc by myself, since there are no packages suitable for install on debian systems. Does tvheadend work like before? I mean authentication support and epg bug we are talking about in this thread.

I have the same issue so reverted to beta3

It is one of the main reasons I use openelec as you can just revert by updating the update folder with the KERNEL and SYSTEM files for the previous release. This means I can test latest builds with the knowledge of being able to revert.

if it seriously wrong and you are unable to boot openelec at all then you can update from USB to...

openelec-pvr available from here...
