hello all

i have had a totle of 48 hours to play and prepare for xbmc and need some help with the basics.

things i need:
web browser (lonchable from main menu would be nice)
automatically play next video (for watching lots of tv show episodes at once) (context menu option ??)
MLBtv plug in (is it any good)
tuner card support/"PVR"
Full torrent (usenet soon) integration.

things i want:
stream video feed to networked pc/tv
host networked non media drives

should i install in W7 or as a stand alone (XBMCubuntu)

my HTPC took a crap 24 hours into this so lets talk hardware
any suggestions? my main concerns are noise, power use, size, AND PRICE

how do you set up the android remote? does it work with "live" instances?
i used the system ip address and everything was default.

"Play from here" option is in context menu. its listed in XBMC change log but not implemented on most skins as of now
MLBtv plug in (is it any good)
works good. found under video add-ons
tuner card support/"PVR"
still working on this one
Full torrent (usenet soon) integration.

in windows just share like you would with out XBMC

W7 allows for hardware supported video decoding, IDK if xbmcbubuntu does

Got it going again with a new hard drive and some TLC

im having a few other issues, like library not showing all my content and losing the play form here option (has to do with something playing but cant figure out how to get the option back after stopping a video)

its been hard to use the newest distro as most of the support documentation hasn't been updated to reflect the changes.
a lot of questions, that might take quite a while to answer... but if you pour over the wiki and quick start wiki's (links at the page top) you'll be on the way... ran into this link the other day and they have a good comprehensive layman's guide.. http://lifehacker.com/5900626/create-a-k...lete-guide for the most part most of your serious questions will be answered.

-Web browsing is best done outside of XBMC, I use the slash button for a small preset windowed mode and open up a 'real browser' on top.
-Auto magically playing the next... Queue does this, you can set-up favourites with a batch, smart playlists etc..
-PVR support is just coming on stream... very beta, but is in the raodmap for the future.
-Torrent support... check out coach potato and a few other add-ons, support is 3rd party primarily.
-theRenamer is just awesome... drag and drop entire folders of TV and it makes sense of them.
-Streaming.. well read the description of XBMC again, it's primarily a media player/organizer/media center
-A full O/S install gives you multi-tasking for browsers and the like
-There is a hardware forum feel free to peruse and ask questions there.
-Setting up android remote; I have seem messages to this regard, if the search function isn't doing it for you, use Google.
-For some of your other issues... nomenclature is the biggest to watch for (theRenamer will help here)

The Wiki and faqs are pretty pertinent to the EDEN build, only a few obscurities need cleaning up. If you really get stuck feel free to post.. I'm sure someone has your solution. I should note that if you take it a bit easier on us and ask one question at a time, you'll likely catch a few more responses... it's not like any user wants to write a whole XBMC book in the forums.
