I have xbmc set up to retrieve new data on startup, hide library updates, and advancedsettings clean database on update. Up until recently this all happened seamless, I never got any on screen messages which is the way I want it. However, in the recent nightlies after xbmc finishes cleaning the database I get a pop up message on the screen that says "cleaning database, this may take a few moments" or something to that affect, an then the slider goes from 0-100%. I don't want this to happen in the middle of playing a video. Did something change recently and how do I go about turning off this message now?
Could be a recent change, yeah. Please post a bug report on trac with details as you've done here. A Debug Log should show the dialog popping up (search for "Init").

Yup - please post it on trac and cc vdrfan
lol, I'll have to figure out what that means first. I know trac is some kind of bug reporting site for xbmc but never used it before.
Just wanted to let you know, this problem has not been fixed yet. Still using Eden full time because the pop up messages are a deal breaker.
Still present in latest nightlies, I'm hoping this is at least fixed before Frodo final hits?
Did you post a bug-report on trac?
Frodo is still in developement, so you shouldn't expect too fast bug-fixing, because the devs have their workload full.
If the bug is being recognized it will get fixed before a final hits.

If you didn't post a bug-report yet, you can do so with the help of this how-to:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_Submi...Bug_Report
Still isn't fixed in Alpha 7.
Is there a bug report on trac? We don't remember months old forum topics Smile

trac.xbmc.org
Just wanted to comment that this has been bugging me for a few months as well, I have seen this post but never did my part to help file a bug or anything. If you need anything else to get this resolved let me know and I can help out.
I'm still getting this in RC2, I've got library updates hidden but whenever a clean occurs it pops up on screen. I wouldn't mind if it was just like the library updating notification where it disappears when you are playing a video and you can browse about XBMC normally. But it's an intrusive popup that prevents you from moving about XBMC or watching a video.
5 years later and this issue still persists on V17.
Your original trac ticket got closed with a status of 'Fixed' so the developers thought it was solved. Looking at the code changes, they added a new variable that determines if progress should be shown or not which makes sense but my coding skill is not good enough to tell why that new logic doesn't work.

I think it would be best to create a new ticket because of the age of the old one. Any maybe don't wait 5 years to mention the fix doesn't work next time :p Big Grin
