Hi Hope I have posted this in the correct place.I have just purchased a G-Box Midnight MX2 with XBMC . However i'm not very happy with its performance so from reading forums it appears that there is a linux build of pure XBMC that i could flash to the box . Would it be possible to confirm that this is the case and point me to a step by step guide to flashing it please.Huh

Thanks in advance for any help

Dan
There is no working and released linux for the AML8726-MX(M6) processor yet.
There is a linux for the AML8726-M3 processor - which is the single core chip in the Pivos XIOS and the original Midnight MX.
It's in Beta stages, but it is being worked on:

I have never been happy/impressed with the mx2, I had a friend use it for a bit and he was going to buy it off me if he could get it working correctly, but alas, it's back on my desk.

I'm going to install the Linux version tonight, I'll post back with results.
shoot.. lost my last reply.

Dan, I'd suggest you try the Linux beta version. the menus are much more responsive and it outputs at 1080p now
I'm 1/2 way through a movie and it's actually played flawlessy.

Before on Matricom's pos software I couldn't go more than 2 mins without stuttering.
I don't want to jinx things, lol but I'm almost impressed.. I still wouldn't recommend this to anyone, but for people that can't return a unit that can't play a thing like mine was, the Linux firmware is so far a viable option.
Do you know if this linux only works with G-Box MX2 or any Amlogic 8726-MX device??

Thanks,

Sorry to be off topic slightly but has anyone had the problem with the Gbox rebooting automatically? Possibly a heat problem.

Please don't hijack a thread for a completely unrelated issue. You already started your own thread here on your issue: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=172054

Thanks for pointing me to this xdaforum thread.. Smile
For those that do manage to load and run the XDA Linux (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthre...st44951376) on their G-Box Midnight MX2 would you be willing to take a video showing the following:

1) Bootup. I am curious how long it takes the G-Box Midnight MX2 takes from power on to when XBMC starts running.

2) XBMC usage. I am curious to see the speed the menu access and the fanart refresh.

3) Playing a 720p and 1080p video.

EDIT: To moderators, I would think that this thread would be better suited under the hardware section.
Actually, this seems a better fit for the Linux support subforum, so moving it there.
