its not exactly stable but I was able to load pvr.wmc on Fire TV running XBMC and decoded 1080i and 720p channels perfectly. hopefully as support for Fire TV improves, so will its ability to act as a PVR client.
Cool, thanks for the post. Is pvr.wmc unstable itself, or xbmc in general, on fire tv?

My only reference for running pvr.wmc was a Win7 PC which was very stable. PVR.WMC running on FTV has a significant delay in bringing up full EPG grid so I've switched to just displaying what on "now" which is removes most of the delay. I may try changing a couple of things on my network to see if it makes a difference as there is no delay with the Win7 machine. I'm running the most recent nightly Gotham build so I suspect stability issues might relate to XBMC rather than pvr.wmc although I can't say for sure.
There's probably no comparison between the processor on your ftv vs the processor in your win machine.

There is NO comparison between processors Wink
fyi, there's been a request in the pvr developer forum to speed up the display of epg, because the lag in pi's and their like is too long.
Hopefully the EPG lag can be improved. Channel changing time is otherwise similar. I was suprised it could decode OTA HD channels and playback of .wtv files from recorded TV folder is OK too. Not ready to install a FTV at every tv in the house but it does show promise.
What are you guys doing to set it up? I can't get it to do anything but make the error boing noises.
I had to add ServerWMC_Service.exe to the firewall.
Sorry I missed your help request. Glad you got it fixed.
No problem. I don't think I followed the guidelines for support requests any way. Someone might want to update one of the wikis with a note about firewalls. Great stuff.
The interesting thing is, unless you are going through the advanced setup options to run it as a service, ServerWMC_Service.exe isnt even used. Are you running it as a service by performing the advanced manual configurations steps in the wiki?
Playing with it some more, I think what I did was close the window without the "minimize to the tray" option selected. Then I went to the TV in another room to configure it and it didn't work. I'd been having similar issues with NextPVR and that was fixed with Firewall settings. I've managed to get it to work and fail on command, but the firewall still had the rules for the 2 programs listed above.

I am only using PVR.WMC. I found it after NPVR and it's better if you have WMC PC to serve the content. So, conflicts between 2 streaming programs was not an issue.
I just set up FTV as a client using pvr.wmc provided with xbmc-13.2-Gotham-armeabi-v7a.apk and most things work, just the displayed live TV and recordings have the wrong aspect ratio. The Windows 8.1 machine running WMC and ServerWMC (not as a service) is set to the same resolution (720p, FTV can't do 1080i and the TV can't do 1080p). Any hints? Thanks in advance!
The resolution of the machine serverwmc runs on doesn't make any difference, the resolution of the tv shows is set by the broadcaster. So if the aspect ratio is not correct check the resolution and zoom settings of xbmc on FTV.
