I would like to add a menu item for lazytv to the home menu. Could anyone say how adding such an item to the home menu is achieved?

You would need to make the item (it's an addon I assume?) a favourite by selecting the addon in the menu area where it's been installed to then press "c" on your keyboard and select "add to favourites". Once it's been tagged as a favourite you can go into skin settings and set up a menu item short cut or a submenu item short cut using the favourite item you've just set up.
