On my main htpc I never have issues with buffering and sometimes I am recording 5-6 shows at once. Unfortunately on my remote machine if I am recording. TV on the main htpc the playback constantly has to buffer. I don't believe it is network related. I have moved the way server folder to a different logical drive b ť that did not solve the problem. I suppose I could try an ssd. Anything else I could try
Well if you can load your storage like you describe and get smooth play locally, its hard not to think that it is related to your network, or possible the client machine. But go ahead and post a link to the server log after you get episodes of buffering. What is the remote machine?

I am going to try Ian's suggestion of making the remux folder locatable elsewhere as an option in the next rev (hopefully). That will give you something to experiment with.
Here is another piece of info. All of my tuners are HDHomeRun Primes which are network devices. I never see any buffering on my main HTPC only on my remote PC. All of my routers, switches and network adapators are Gigabit capable. What would help is a tool to monitor and log netwrk traffic and cpu load on the main HTPC. I have tried a few options but haven't found anything that meets the need.

Again: what are your remote clients?

I have the same system as you, two hdhr primes & gigE lan. But, even my wireless surface pro 3 can stream live tv in hd without buffering.

Is it only live tv that has the buffering problem? i.e. what happens when you just try to watch a pre-recorded wtv files remotely? How about SD vs HD?
