Things are being renamed everywhere since XBMC name is no more.

Since I am the only active custodian of WiMM - Web interface Media Manager I have decided time had come to put these things through the ringer.

There are 3 components to this contest. (2 remaining)

1) Name/Rename project Entries for names are now closed The poll is now CLOSED see The winner announcement in this post..
2) Give project visual identifier (logo)
3) Give project a fan artwork page for being displayed in various backgrounds within project.

Guidelines:
Please try to make these entries fun, For the ICON 256x256 without distracting or heavy photoshop effects or backgrounds. Main focus should remain on logo and be clear what it is for.
For the Fanart entry a fun interpretation of the project/logo and maybe some bonus a project mascot.

* A new project name. **
* A project ICON - Dimensions 256x256 would be ideally, (a logo + project name) presented in light and dark backgrounds.***
* A project favicon.
* A project fanart - Dimensions 1280x720 would be ideally, (a logo + project name) presented in light and dark backgrounds.***

** Name can be an acronym, but doesn't have to be restricted to acronyms .** For e.g the interim name is WiMM (Web Interface Media Manager) but feels clumsy somehow.
** Name should be short to point and easy to pronounce internationally.
** Name should not belong to existing projects or be already used by commercial enterprises. (if a google search turns up significant results it probably means its a no go)

*** Logo should be sufficiently original and not rip off any existing logo(s) artwork especially if they belong to companies etc.
*** Logo should allude to the end use of addon it is a web interface to manage media on your browser for Kodi the Entertainment center.
*** Logo, should work as a favicon.
*** Fanart can be just that a visual artistic interpretation of the project logo.

*** Final Artwork in and accompanying .PSD with Vectors or SVG format, GPLv2 author(s) will receive full credits.

Any questions please dont hesitate to ask.

** No intentional or unintentional offensive names or pronunciations or characters in images, no copyrighted artwork or plagiarized artwork or stock images you dont own the rights to should be part of these entries.
** Entries should abide by the guidelines and not detract from the focus of the logo/product.
** Contest will run for 60 days, and extended if necessary. After 60 Days the qualifying entries will be put either to public vote or private vote and the winner announced.

Good luck to all Wink
Name suggestion 'WISP' acronym for 'Web Interface Screen (Secondary) Projector'. I tried to come up with an acronym for wind.... it sounds better but failed in a meaningful way.

The name choice will be critical for art work to follow, so let's see if we can commit early to a name.
Yes, issue is that it is a web interface for managing media, its not a secondary screen/projector, originally thought the name should reflect the use, but it doesn't have to, it also doesn't have to be a acronym. Ideally the name wouldn't get confused with any existing projects or interfere with any existing projects. Certainly a big put off is having Kodi be part of the name. KWMM made me think of a radio station for instance.

While it can be an acronym that is absolutely not a must. just as long as its pronounceable in most languages.
Oops.. my bad, mistook XWMM for AWX so let's try again.... MDM (not to be mistaken for MGM, but memorable ) Managing Direct Media might have some applicable resonance.

Does BAMM do anything for you? 'Browser Accessible Media Mangier' Smile

Ok ok... I'm bankrupt.
For sure food for thought. Smile But doesn't have to be acronym though. just kept it optional to try fill everyone's taste-buds.

Ive extended the context to 60 days, lets see what happens.
Keep it simple Kodi Media Manager - KMM
Sure, simple is great, I was trying to avoid adding Kodi to name because it makes it rather unpronounceable. It is also obvious it is for Kodi.

Pronouncing KMM making a "kum" sound is hardly right in some language like English..
Your decision of course as custodian, but why does it need to be pronounceable?
Janus Media Manager or simply Janus

In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus is the god of beginnings and transitions, and thereby of gates, doors, doorways, passages and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past.
Wouldn't it be better if it is pronounceable? Probably be better remembered also, something this whole project is in danger of becoming is forgotten.

Janus... Sure I like that Smile
@uNiversal: thanks for inviting me Smile

English is not my language, so I can't do very much, but I'll try:

REMM/REM: Remote Enhanced (Entertainment) Media Magager
WIZ: Web Interface Zip/Zap (Does this even makes sense?)
RIMM/RIM: Remote Interface Media Manager
RIME: Remote Interface Media Explorer

@jjd-uk: I like Janus Smile

I'll probably try some logo ideas once we have a name.
I like Janus but there is already projects named janus https://github.com/carlhuda/janus http://janus.lib.cam.ac.uk/db/node.xsp?i...blic/about and https://ww3.janus.com/Janus/Retail/HomePage and https://www.janus.com/ so thats probably a no-no. (no idea and dont have resources to find out)

Is there anything like some obscure but memorable name thats safe to use? Big Grin

Just call it Janus, and use a logo based on it.

Presumably those 3 don't get confused about each other and you're not going to try and trademark are you?

Call it Janus Media Manager then JMM can be registered on github.

But of course I'm biased Smile
