Hi,

I can't seem to find a clear answer to this question: Why can't xbmc bitstream atmos meta data to a receiver/external decoder? Every blu-ray player can do so without modification so I assumed this would work out of the box with xbmc. Is it because ffmpeg does not expose the atmos meta data to xbmc (only the truehd part since the recent atmos "fix")?

Thanks
Welcome to forums.

That support has been added to v14, so try a nightly.

no it's not supported. read it again. We do not do ATMOS, we just don't break audio now
https://github.com/xbmc/FFmpeg/commits/release/2.4-xbmc top commit <-currenty nightly ffmpeg.

Ok none of that is for meta data... ya ignore me.
read the blog! it just extracts TrueHD channels from ATMOS
In case it helps with debugging, the Dolby Atmos demo trailers are now available for download.

They're at the top of the Dolby section. Be sure to get the new TrueHD versions. The older ones just have lossy Dolby Digital soundtracks.
Grobbie, I believe we should support Atmos passthrough already (starting from Kodi 14.0).

Several users have confirmed it to work, e.g. here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1873723

Or have you tried it and it didn't work?
