I just did a clean XBMC Live install and then installed the latest Nvidia PPA (185) and upgraded to the latest ALSA then rebooted and verified that every thing was in working order. So then I changed to the SVN PPA and did an update then upgrade and then when I reboot, XBMC no longer starts. You can see the screen flashing over and over in a loop. I checked the syslog and see this message looping over and over:

EDIT: Never mind. I restored a backup of my ~xbmc/.xbmc directory which must be blowing it up. I renamed the .xbmc directory to .xbmc.dis and then rebooted and it regenerated a new scratch config that is working. I guess I will just have to reconfigure everything but at least it is running. It is strange because it ran fine on the base XBMC Live install.

Please read sticky on how to post in a useful manner and then start a new thread.

Thanks!
So, no more Hardy SVN PPA?

Was handy for getting build dependencies (or most of them anyway)

Seems to be a problem with the skins or something like that:

http://pastebin.com/f2498aa8c
http://pastebin.com/f360be2e1

Update:

Ok it seems to work when i change the following in /usr/share/xbmc/skin/PM3.HD/skin.xml:

I can confirm that changing that offending line in skin.xml does indeed make XBMC run again.

Yes you're right !! this version isn't stable .... watching tvheadend generate a lot of freeze .. the tv module is too young I think and contains only one addon for vdr!! so back to svn 22528 ..
What's the latest stable PPA build #?
Will there be any new versions for Hardy?:
How often do you update the SVN PPA build? It's not "more or less daily builds". But no rush i was just interested in how often, the recent version runs fine for me.
Currently SVN PPA is frozen because the linuxport branch is still unstable. We got a hard time putting the version that you said were working for you, so that we can take time to fix the branch.
Well it wasn't exactly working out of the box, but all i had to do was to edit the skin.xml file. And change skin version to 3.0.

wattazoum,

there have some posts saying that the PPA doesn't support installing specific version from the SVN PPA.

apt-get install xbmc=9.04.3+svn22528-jaunty2

are you aware of this? is this a limitation of the publishing/superseeding process?

Thanks

Well, I was baffled by this until now, but I can confirm that indeed changing the skin version as below fixes it (at least for PM3HD and MediaStream):
Code:
<version>3.0</version>
I have now installed svn 22528 from the PPA and is working again.

PS: If you edit Mediastream, can you please change all title character codings to utf8, or else on translations (in my case portuguese) we get strange chars instead of the accented ones?
I've just upgraded to version 22528 from PPA, but I still had to edit skin.xml to make it work. Is this expected?
Yep, there is people working on it just be patient.
