This are the package names that you will need to install (if you need all of them is up to your needs and setup e.g. full desktop/gnome/kde or XBMCLive or from script minimal install karmic + xci of course.

Yeah, I did an apt-get install xbmc when I set everything up. But I guess this require the purge beforehand.

Don't really understand why it needs to be purged for it to update though.
I just had to uninstall my current xbmc svn with synaptic in Lucid and then Reload, and then it found the new build, r32869, and it installed without problems Smile
So many PPA's with XBMC out there...

PVR-testing2 branch:

- launchpad.net/~henningpingel/+archive/xbmc
- launchpad.net/~the-vdr-team/+archive/ppa

I switch constantly my installed XBMC between those 2, team-xbmc and team-xbmc-svn. When i'm in the mood, i compile from source, just to see progress being made on new features.

Today i'm using henning's PPA to test HD channels and some weird effects with some APIDs on VNSI server (aka, Channel can not be played...)

Bare in mind that stability on some functions - namely Live TV - is somewhat mind numbing/not in the slightest WAF. If you feel like wanting to throw your media center into the wall, don't! I'll happily provide my address for you to ship it to me.

Don't complaint about it. Those aren't provided by team XBMC and are under development on branches.
If you don't like the occasional crash... these aren't for you.

That being clarified, test them if you want. You can always purge 'old' XBMC builds, change repo and install a new build to test.

BTW, for those who love XBMC, there's plenty of work to be done translating add-ons to your birth language. Keeps you occupied while waiting for Dharma...

hudo
Even after I run apt-get purge xbmc* it still installs the old version when I do sudo apt-get install xbmc
Can I do this from live cd install?
How long are the ppa's be gone? I want to install xbmc-live 9.11 stable version. Smile

Blush I had a running system till I remove the xbmc-live package (remove by a other package). By using other ppa I damage the package xbmc xbmc-bin etc.

I will go to download the source and compile it.

Ps, what was the reason to remove/rebuilt the ppa?
