This is just a quick post to inform those interested that these remotes work for most part out of the box on XBMC Live 9.11

Name: PC Remote
Model: unknown
Mfg: unknown
Price: +/- US$10

Keys that don't work:

power off (no clue why)
the colored ones (they have to be somehow configured and I haven't figured out how (yet))
email (xbmc live doesn't have an email client)
www (xbmc live doesn't have a web browser)
close
desktop
windows button

Keys that do something different:

full screen brings up the software controls for playback
tab switches between home and full screen visualisation during playback

I think its worthless unless I can get Lirc working on it.

I want to press a button and have it launch XBMC, I want to press a button and have it send the "i" command , I want to program the "c" context menu button to it. etc etc. I have not had any luck doing any of this, had I bought a $20 MCE remote that was known to work I'd be good to go.

Ah thanks. I wasn't aware some other people already had been fiddling around with it.

just for general information: the remote works mostly in XBMC Live 9.11 but for the few keys I listed above. So I believe it's just a matter of messing around with the lircd.conf file. I'll let you know if I have any success.
