Hi folks,

I am running RC1 on ATV and recognized that the xbmc upnp server now sorts the music alphabetically and seems to ignore track numbers.

I just wanna note, that Beta 1 still sorted by track numbers, but since Beta 2 the sorting is done alphabetically.

If have tried several upnp clients none of them shows the music by track numbers anymore.

Not sure, if is only an ATV specific problem or if it was even implemented on purpose. If yes, I would prefer a configuration switch, because I would like listen to my music by track numbers, not by name. :-)

Please help.
Hi all,
I have the same problem either with RC1.
The music is sorted alphabetically, which is not correct, from my point of view.

(I am using ChorusDS feeding a LINN stream player).

A switch should be fine, or a tag inside advancedsettings.xml.

thanks
Please, can a developer comment on this?

Thanks
I have opened a bug report on this matter.

I still wonder why there is no comment whatsoever on this issue...
Weird. Either nobody is using upnp or nobody else is experiencing the problem?

uPnP would be a last resort for me as you lose all the cool Librray stuff. I suspect most XBMC users feel the same.

@jhsrennie,
It's not a matter of cool library stuff.

We are talking about sorting order of the upnp server.
Some of us use the media on the server also to feed other clients/renderers
We would like to sort the SONGS according to track number order and not in alphabetically order.

And it was working before, there must have been a change somewhere.

We would like to know if this change is intentional, or if it's a bug.

Thanks.
sorry for bumping this thread again, but I would really like to have a feedback from the developers for this issue, because is quite annoying.

thanks and keep on this excellent work!
I can confirm that this is an issue for me too.

Please could we have some feedback?
Have a look at:

http://trac.xbmc.org/log/branches/Dharma...?rev=35595

and:

http://trac.xbmc.org/log/branches/Dharma...?rev=35495

Assuming the change happened between beta 1 and beta 2 it must be the changes flagged as "3 months" that are responsible. In particular:

http://trac.xbmc.org/changeset/33453/bra...c/UPnP.cpp

looks sinister, though I don't know the code well enough to be sure this is the cause.

It certainly looks like you might be on to something there. I wonder if the fix was to sort Video it title order and this has inadvertently caused music to be sorted this way too.

I have added a comment to elite1967's bug report. Hopefully this will get resolved soon.

Thanks

Excellent analysis!!
I hope the developers look here!
I thought I'd have a look at this but using XBMC as the uPnP client works fine, presumably because the XBMC client sorts the results locally so it doesn't matter what the uPnP server does. Is there some uPnP client I can run on Windows to replicate the error?

Sorry, I don't have any running on windows.
You could try Chorus DS running on MAC OS or iPhone.
Sorry, I am not using Windows, but MediaLinkPlayer or PlugPlayer on iPad/iPhone or Noxon (an Internet radio appliance, similar to Sonos).
But Google shows '4u2Stream' is a upnp player for Windows....not sure about the quality, though.
