Yeah, that's about what I was expecting.

Nate got my hopes up w/the phrase "external player", but only about as much as a lotto ticket does ;-)

Thanks for clarifying & too bad

That's what an 'external player' means under xbmc, xbmc launches it and gets out of the way.

If I remember correctly, you can also make shortcuts to them within the skin settings page.

Is there a current xbmc on android solution that supports netflix? I really want to buy a XIOS for the HW acceleration, but need a working netflix app. There seems to be a problem with netflix on ICS with that chipset. Are there any other options?

First off thank you for xbmc I have been using it on atv2's through out my house now for 2 years. With the new encoding how ever I needed to upgrade so xbmc for android I thought was my answer so I jumped. I bought the Pivios Xios DS I have already upgraded to ICS and downloaded a APK of xbmc which looks amazing. However (this is where I am confused) I can not get it to play any of my media. I have a 2TB buffalo NAS when I try and play any of my movies it either A. crashes or B. gives me a "cannot play file" check the log message .

So a few questions. 1. Can I please have a Link to the most up to date apk for Pivios Xios DS bc maybe I dont have the most stable version

2. I have read, now I am not the most tech savvy person , that xbmc does not buffer yet for android which leads me to believe that it will not play movies from my NAS. It would need to be directly connected for local playback only "streaming " not buffering correct? if so how would I go about setting that up

I guess thats it thank you in advance for helping me out I will check back on the thread or just shoot me a PM

@cadetgusv

1. http://www.pivosforums.com/ will have most up-to-date Pivos specific builds. You might want to also take the Linux XIOS image for a spin, as I hear it's a little more stable.

2. No, XBMC should be able to play content over the network.

and remember, it might be a few months or more for things to really be hammered out.

It is strongly recommended to wait a few months for people to confirm specific hardware before making any purchases (outside of the Pivos XIOS, that is).

For the time being, Pivos XIOS is the only option for hardware video decoding. Give it a little time and either more devices will start to work, or the Netflix issue will be straightened out.

Anyone brave enough to try the 1ghz 1GB Ram AMlogic m3 box that ovalelephant is selling as compatible with Pivos' Linux XBMC build?

http://www.ovalelephant.com/p-2079-new-android-tv-box-amlogic-m3-1gb-ram--Xbmc-1080p

It has an optical out, the absence of which has kept me from buying the Xios.

I really want to support Pivos as they are a tiny (local) business who've put a lot of effort into XBMC support, but I needs me an optical out!

It is actually a "compatible with AMLogic Android XBMC build" (--enable-player amlplayer)

The "Linux XBMC build" is yet to be investigated.

A bit more info at my blog, including the Youtube video showing the 1080p blackback;

Thanks Peter, I hadn't taken a look at your blog for a few weeks.

I would love to know if the optical out works on the Pivos Linux build.
