Here's my log.

Edit: Perhaps I should add that the music keeps playing while the GUI just becomes unresponsive. This is what I mean by "crashing".

Second log, basically the same as above but shows that the music keeps playing

This also happens for me on Helix alpha 3.

13.2 1080p here in case it helps.

Same thing here on 13.2. Screen goes black, music plays can't get out without hard reboot.

Plays ok on my test install of XBMC on the desktop (1600x900) and my 40" Sony Bravia (1080p). Fake Fullscreen used in both cases.

+1 Rep for YOU MrC.

Smile

EDIT: Desktop is using a Nvidia GTX770-SC, and the HTPC a Nvidia GTX750-SC in case it matters.

If your adding presets from Winamp, this may be the issue. The default presets supplied by MrC work fine for me. Anything added from Winamp or the Preset MegaPack (4000-ish presets) don't work based on my (limited) testing.

RE: Milkdrop 2 for XBMC - Warstomper - 2014-09-29

I don't think presets have anything to do with it, as I experienced the hang without any other addons/edits enabled.

I've added nothing. Taken straight out of the box into XBMC. Frankly, I was too excited to do anything else without seeing it work. Let's face it, Milkdrop2 is simply the best visualization ever to exist.

I've added some Winamp presets for the version I've built for Linux and most of them work correctly. Occasionally I get a segfault (this is with Helix Alpha 5 built from source), so I'm gonna do some more testing and make a list of the ones I have that work well.

Have to admit, it was awesome when I got it working !!

G-Force (by Soundpectrum.com) Is better than MilkDrop 1 or 2. Sadly they think XBMC/Kodi is far too "Niche" and "Buggy" to support. Or at least some members of the forum community (read: resident trolls) do at any rate. Which is a shame. It's not free like MilkDrop, but IMHO it's much better. I'm not holding out much hope for a port at this stage though. It took over 12 months of moaning just to get WMC-x64 support added so users of the 64bit versions of Windows could also enjoy G-Force in WMC like the x32 users, so getting them to support something like XBMC/Kodi, Plex OR MediaPortal won't happen unless more people ask at their forums for support for such a combination.

A demo version is available that will work with a range of media players (Including Winamp and any app that can directly run Winamp plugins). Check it out. (www.soundspectrum.com)

Until/If that becomes a reality, MD2 is a fair substitute and another good option in the stable.

Are you saying this works for linux now?

Mr C said in the release it was windows only??

RE: Milkdrop 2 for XBMC - badaas - 2014-12-17

Might be solved already elsewhere.., but I fixed my freezing windows Plex Home Theater (xbmc branch) by installing the latest winamp with milkdrop2 included, then uninstalling it (or keep if you want w/e). Cured my freezing. I also ran a dxweb end user microsoft dx installer to try squeeze in some old directx 9 missing dll's or whatever.. all works fine now. Have heard just installing winamp worked Smile

Probably why I had no issues with MrC's default install then. I have Winamp installed on all my machines (pretty much).

RE: Milkdrop 2 for XBMC - DarkHelmet - 2014-12-29

I too can confirm that after installing Winamp XBMC no longer freezes when I use Milkdrop 2.
