RE: DTS passthrough on Ouya - not currently supported - speedway - 2013-08-07

To bring this issue to the attention of the Ouya team, I've opened a ticket on the 27th of June.

Today I received an update (7th of August):
Your request (#48897) has been solved.

I seems they just wait long enough and close automatically your ticket without taking action.

Very 'nice' action of Ouya support team/system.

How do you know if it hasn't been solved and merged into the nightlies?

Well, I'm running the latest Ouya firmware and the latest nightly build (i.e. 7th of August) and I still need to apply the workaround (i.e. switching HDMI-input on my receiver) to get a proper sound.

In that case it's indeed 'nice' from them Wink

by the way, post the problem in twitter, maybe there they will react...

RE: DTS passthrough on Ouya - not currently supported - Alchete - 2013-08-07

The issue has been apparent since at least February, when Koying specifically asked Ouya about HDMI-CEC support.

Ouya has no solution to date, though they are apparently making some internal tests. Meanwhile, weeks and weeks continue to pass.

You can follow the thread here in their developer forums: http://forums.ouya.tv/discussion/651/hdmi-cec-for-xbmc

I hope it won't be a hardware problem....
Aren't there any games with Dolby Digital or DTS sound? Don't they have any problems?

RE: DTS passthrough on Ouya - not currently supported - johnflorin - 2013-08-09

I have a Dolby Digital-decoding speaker set connected to my TV through Optical and the TV would be connected with HDMI to the Ouya. Right now I select that my external receiver is only DD capable in the settings and as such any DTS content gets nicely downmixed and all is well...would the Ouya be capable of the same thing? From what I gather from previous pages it will downmix DTS but not DTS-HD/MA?

Thanks for the info. Just received my OUYA the unit shut down while updating its firmware. This DTS PASSTHROUGH problem is a deal breakers it's going back.

Hi
I just read the release notes for the new ouya firmware update today an they mention they are now concentrating on hdmi-cec and audio pass through. Do any of the devs here have any new info on this?

If true that is awesome to hear! Do you have a link to it?

My ouya is sitting gathering dust, its getting no use at all because of this audio problem! Ive been waiting months now of them to fix it or provide any info and it just seems like they don't care! It was one of the biggest highest priority problems with the box and they didn't bother addressing it! Whats even worse is that at the start i could get pass this problem via the trick to switch avr hdmi channel and power cycle. But with the last few updates to either ouya firmware or xbmc, even this didn't work after! Since then i stopped using it Sad

Box will be awesome though as soon as this is fixed!

Where exactly did you read that?

Ouya perhaps got positive feedback with many votes from XBMC users in this survey http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=179922

I found the link to it hidden away in this OUYA system update release announcement

RE: DTS passthrough on Ouya - not currently supported - febox-pootz - 2013-12-19

In fact they are focusing in xbmc audio passthrough and hdmi-cec for some time now - maybe it will be in the next big update (they're updating the little box - with big updates - like 1 time a month).

They've made a poll asking what were the most important features in their users opinion.
USB storage (to games) won, XBMC audio/hdmi-cec got second place. USB storage is already here, so...
