New User: Wifi to TV? - muqmuq - 2011-05-03 Hi, This is my first post here — I have had a good look around but can't find a clear answer to a query I have... With a DLNA enabled TV (Sony Bravia EX720) accessing a network via WiFi, is it possible to find a wifi networked laptop running XBMC, and thus through XMBC access media in attached external drives to play on the TV? I imagine the question might hinge on whether the software will perform over WiFi, accessible through the TV. I'd really appreciate any advice, and if my question is possible perhaps a pointer to any setup instructions that I can work my way through. Sorry in advance if I've missed something obvious. Thanks! - Chris! - 2011-05-03 Google is your friend. Thanks psuedo7 — Google is indeed my friend, and has been for many years. And I have also read the wiki, quite comprehensively. As I am sure you know, one of the problems with Googling etc is the sheer volume of information returned, which often gives a range of results that can give conflicting information. As a result of that, in the past I have sometimes found that asking a quick and carefully worded question to "the brains trust" can help get a precise answer. In this case, I have read many conflicting reports about whether it is possible to read connected network drives over wireless through XMBC, from a DLNA equiped TV. Some say yes, some say no. I can't find anything in the Wiki to help calrify. So, if I can presume on the infinite volume of cyberspace, I'll pose the question again... anyone out there have successful experiences with the setup in my OP? |
