can't wait...A Suggestion from my side, but I think it is maybe to complicated. :confused2:
Make sections like this
Movies, Television, Pictures, Internet, sources, Settings
The sources Entrypoint could also be placed under Settings.
If you go to Sources You are presented with the Source-Category to choose from (in this Case: Movies, Television, Pictures and Internet).
If you choose for example the movies category, you are presented with all configured movie-sources. Each movie source name is then listed
under Movies in main Menu. You could then name the Sources like "Kids", "Action", Only HD and so on.
So basically the Idea is to seperate the Sourcemanagement from the viewing part. Then Hiding the Source item in the Profile for the Kids would
be enough to prevent them to see or add content they shouldn't.
The second benefit would be, that all the side-menus could be reduced and I'm sure there are other parts, that could be cut out of the views when
they are seperated from the Views.
I hope I could explain what I mean and hope that you like the Idea too.

This can be done. I'm currently using Add-ons instead of Internet and I will probably keep XBMC instead of settings, because I need a place to put stuff like "play disc" or similar that do not fit into sections you previously mentioned.

Similar to above - all I can do in a skin is to make an item "Files" which will open up all video sources. You can, however, make separate folders on disk, put different files in them and use favorites to manually assign them to items on Home.

As far as I know, kids would be still presented with a few "unsuitable" options in context menu, if you do not enable PIN locks in their profile.

WOW! I have been through most skins. (ATV2 + Win 7 PC) and this skin just... ::slowclap::
One thing I would LOVE:
On TV SHOWS media panel at Home screen:
the preview images for Recently Added episodes only show details when onFocus.
I understand it would take up too much space to add details to every preview image in the Media Panel, highlighted or not, but at least show the date &/or title &/or ep#. [if confluence can do it, i know you can do it better]
Also:
Is there a way to sync Skin settings b/w my ATV2 and Win 7 pc?

Thanks for feedback. I'll see what I can do about it.
As for comparison with Confluence I know you meant it differently but you could not be more astray - it's maintained by team XBMC and very skilled & experienced skinner, while I'm one grumpy old man show

well, grumpy old one man show - since i saw and used Quartz none of the other skins compare for me - its awesome, slick and smooth. so not so grumpy hahah!

Open up DialogButtonMenu.xml in skin/720p and delete bolded part to get rid of SLEEP option
