When I start up XBMC, I get "Could not connect to network server" scrolling across the bottom. Can anyone help.

The bottom normally shows the xbmc.org RSS feed. The error you're seeing means that XBMC is failing to connect to the Internet.

I got that much, but my point is why, and how do I fix it? My computer itself connects fine.

A debug log might give the reason. See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Log_file for details.
