I installed headphones using the windows.exe on windows 7 64bit. I tried to change the musicbrainz server to yours by changing the webservice.py to the following

def __init__(self, host='tbueter.com', port=3000, pathPrefix='/ws',
username=None, password=None, realm='tbueter.com',
opener=None):

Getting an error that says its still trying to get info from musicbrainz. Any thoughts?

Also, when I add an artist, I get this error

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.

I've been having some problems with Musicbrainz applying a hit limit for headphones. The newest version should fix it but it'll only work if the majority of you guys update. Thanks for the patience, i'm going to try to be more active with my updates and with this community

woohoo! Thanks! Updating now.

- oneadvent - 2012-01-23

OH and for anyone that wants to reset changes to the lib/musicbrainz2/webservice.py (if you are using git) you can do:
Code:
git reset --hard HEAD

Thanks! Just updated to e9ee3d02bb9ff2b1da942686e99a05c0578f3dc4 via auto-update (windows)

Just updated the windows-binary... thanks rembo Smile
I take it that I can take down my copy of musicbrainz or should I leave it up?

Leave it up for a bit if you don't mind. I updated, added an artist and immediately got the same errors from musicbrainz. switched back to yours and all was happy. Hopefully it'll get worked out soon, but it would be much appreciated if you kept it up a little longer.

Hmmmm, updated Windows version, still getting errors. Just can't seem to get this working with Henry's server or Musicbrainz...... Keep getting

Oh well........

Well he wrote that it will only work if the majority updates... maybe they will wait to reenable the access until the usage of the old version has dropped below 10% ^^

[EDIT:] I can confirm that the problem still exists. Wink

[EDIT2:] Hm, it works from time to time... strange. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6451985/headphones.PNG

Why suddenly in german? Wink

@Discotech: Do you use the windows-build (a.k.a. the exe-file)?
this is very strange - I just tried a direct database search on my server and via the API:
When I search in the database, I can find an entry, it leads to this:
http://musicbrainz.org/release-group/5acf62a9-00e8-3896-abeb-4598abad7e8b (or: http://tbueter.com:3000/release-group/5acf62a9-00e8-3896-abeb-4598abad7e8b) which is quite correct. But if I search for the ID via the API I cannot find the release... Probably a bug on musicbrainz'-side. They definetly let you search via the ID, but it won't yield any results...

I will leave my server up and running, I still think that it probably would be best if the user can decide which mb-database is being used (or, even better: Define multiple servers).

Personally I think some kind of agreement/partnership needs to be worked out with Musicbrainz if that's what Headphones is going to use. If it means Headphones users have to donate 10 bucks or something, then so be it.

I like the idea of being able to change your mb-database address in the config, but the downside to multiple servers would be that it would still be hammering the main mb server most likely, and then moving to the secondary once the first fails. That's great for the user, but doesn't fix the issue from the Musicbrainz side.

- HenryFord - 2012-01-24

You could decide randomly which server to use - or: Fire first against musicbrainz.org, second against tbueter.com, third against musicbrainz.org, etc.

- Discotech - 2012-01-25

@HenryFord I am using the exe then updated via the web prompt. Tried making changes to web service.py but still getting errors. Not very good with python I'm afraid so maybe I need to make changes in more than one area.... More than likely, it's something on my end.
