RE: Headphones - Music albums & artists NZB auto download program - T800 - 2012-03-14

Apologies of this has been asked before, a search came up empty.

Is there any plans to add an automatic XBMC music library update like SickBeard/CouchPotato?

Hi guys. I've had Headphones working for a few weeks now, and I guess I got behind on updating. When I updated it, I can no longer add artists without it giving this error:

EDIT: Nevermind, after reading the error message, I changed the Musicbrainz mirror to Musicbrainz and it seems to be working now.

I meant to keep a running log of ideas/notes/bugs I had, but unfortunately haven't had the time like I planned. I did have a few notes though that I figured I'd throw out there just in case..

1. Selectable albums to display/check/count. As it is now, you get all albums, and if you select
get extras, it adds a ton of stuff. It would be nice if there was an option to select each
LP/EP/Single whatever and say display or not. At the very least, EP’s should be included with
LP’s and not extras.

2. Better search ability on newsgroups. Headphones fails to find stuff that is out there for various
reasons. i.e. A search for ‘The Psychedelic Furs’ comes back with no results because the
nzbs all omit “The” in the band title.

Thanks. I did not know that HP still had control of downloaded albums and the content of the folder after restarts and several updates. I also found the Force post processing option. I've been looking for that one before. It might have been added the later months? Good to have in any case. I removed the problem album and hit the force Post processing. It went straight away on the rest of the albums. You just saved me a lot of hours. Thanks again!

What's missing for me is the ability to tell Headphones that I have an album. Headphones isn't too good at identifying your current collection, how about the ability in album view to browse to a directory to tell Headphones that the album is there, it could then rename and tag the album to its liking.

I would suggest that you all take a look at Picard by Musicbrainz (Picard by MusicBrainz).
This will help you tag your collection in a format that headphones can handle.

@rembo10: I would suggest that you start looking for the Musicbrainz AlbumID in the ID3-Tag of the file, if hp doesn't already.

I've looked at it, but I didn't find it very intuitive. Plus, I'm very particular about my ID3 tags Big Grin

Just installed Headphones on my Unraid server. Seems very promising. I have a few questions though.

What exactly is rembo referring to regarding a mirror server? What is the benefit of donating to that server than to music brainz?

Is there any post processing? I read that there wasn't via the wiki, but that was last updated 8 months ago. ATM, I can add artists and set an album to Wanted and Headphones downloads it (via sabznbd) but nothing happens afterward.

The benefit is that we do not have to hammer away at musicbrainz'-server and thus preventing the userbase from accessing it (musicbrainz limits the access to their servers to prevent flooding).

On a side note and completely offtopic (and only for Windows-Users interesting):

I've ran headphones to look at my last.fm and it has finished the scan but I'm wondering what's the fastest way to delete a bunch of artists in one go? Some artists have been logged on my last.fm account but I have only listened to one song for that artist or either don't like an artist anymore

Hello, so I just stumbled upon this today and it seems pretty amazing. However, when running the .exe version I get a boat ton of errors. I use Windows 7, Headphones version:261bae36faa2402783252b70dbb75293eb6227bb When I click "Settings", I get this error:
Code:

And also when I try to manage my library, I get these errors:

RE: Headphones - Music albums & artists NZB auto download program - HenryFord - 2012-03-22

You should probably try to switch the mirror.
However - I just found out that the mirror-system is really eating away my VPS' resources thus I decided to shut it down for now. Maybe at some point I'll can bring it back up with nginx, but I think the real culprit here is postgres.
Since this is my private VPS I will shut down the mirror for now, so expect to see errors in headphones, sorry for this inconvenience.

However - a better server would probably help this, but I would suggest that you choose rembo10's server for donations to accomplish this.
