G6 will be perfect!

but uhm, u need 3D playback!?

u need to Bitstream HD-AUdio!?

you'll use Linux or WIndows!?

I want to make this move, but I'm scared of a few things:

1. I must re-format my HTPC because the OS is on a 2 TB drive. This includes my configs and Harmony config as well... isn't the Harmony config uploaded on the cloud? Everything is perfect now minus my diskspace issue... sad fricken week for me...

2. I must use Windows because I am unfamiliar with Linux, is there anything I need to look out for?

3. Does the unRAID server support any FTP?

can anyone post some really easy tutorials for installing SAB + CP + SB to an unraid server?

some of the tutorials seem to skip steps or not explain them, e.g. "edit your go script".. what is a go script, where is it, how do i edit it? etc.

Hmmm... you sure you don't work for sales for them?! haha...

I'll explore the other options to the best of my ability on my own then I guess.

I would prefer to have the ability of 3D playback since I have the 60" Panasonic GT30.

Is it just as easy to rip 3D blurays as regular blurays or even possible?

I don't really care about HD Audio and I will be using Windows.

itsjwills: well, thanx to the GT430 GPU,
all my G6 builds can play 3D and Bitstream HD-Audio Tongue
ALso, Ripping 2D or 3D Bluray is the same process...

I tried. I got okay help if I was really good at computers but they never seem to give a straight answer. Their wiki is really good but in reference to a cache drive. I need to know what edits to do for a drive which is just mounted on the array.

Thanks eskro! I posted my hardware list here:http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=106265

As you can tell I tried to piece everything together from your guides. If you could take a minute to look at everything and give your feedback I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Does this setup have a cache drive? Do I even need one? Just for clarity, the parity drive is just a backup essentially, but isn't a cache drive something that will help the movies to stream flawlessly?

A cache drive will allow you to write/save files to your server faster. Files are written to the drive and then moved to the array later. Adding files to the array is slower than writing to a single drive since parity(back-up) needs to be calculated. I don't think having a cache drive will have any effect on streaming.
