Sorry I have found that article but physically where is it? I can't find that file location on my iMac? Do I need software to access the ATV2 when I hook it up to my mac?

Use Cyberduck or similar (SFTP) to access the filesystem on your aTV2

Cyberduck, use SFTP (not FTP), IP address of the ATV2, user/pass: mobile/alpine

Navigate to:

var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/userdata/

And that's where advancedsettings.xml will go.
