Kind of new to the XBMC scene, but I've been using this skin and loving it. Had a question, though.... what's the best way to update this new version with the metro interface? Should I just re-download the zip on github and replace all the skin files in my directory, or is there a better way of doing it?

That is indeed a good way although you can mis some needed script this way.
Better way is first open the zip file and rename the folder to 'skin.Xperience1080' (like you already have in the addons folder) and then use install from .zip file from xbmc

is it possible, to create my own metro meny eg. for games or sports where i choose for every tile?

Black, I have sent a pull request for the Dutch language file.
I will keep an eye on the English and German language file as to post future changes.
I like that you're keeping the original home screen. Would you consider the previous mentions of moving the Settings section to the bottom next to Exit and Favourites for the original home screen? This would make the skin even more family-friendly - which it already is - and would make a clear distinction between 'consumer' usage versus 'actionable' usage.
