RE: New MythTV add-on using libcmyth - opteron123 - 2012-06-30 15:11 Still having the plugin fail on ubuntu 11.04. hinally have a paste of the log. http://pastebin.com/gVdSKgXP XdMC loads but plugin fails, after activating it, xbmc crashes. Sorry about typos, im currently using hometheatre pc and have some keys remapped. cheers. RE: New MythTV add-on using libcmyth - darrenrogan - 2012-07-04 01:06 Hi folks, I've pull down https://github.com/tsp/xbmc.git (Master), and built / installed its over the xbmcbuntu build, with mytv backend installed. Mythbox plugin is working well but the live tv in xbmc is only sort of working. It is loading the EPG, and I can select a channel and it will load that channel and I can watch live TV. The issue is that I can not change the channel from one to another; I can stop the live tv and select a different channel (this works). When I change a channel from watching a channel the audio switches to the new channel but the screen freezes. No more command / remote buttons do anything thing; I need to reboot my machine to get the screen to work / do something (like stop doesn't work). I've loaded my log @ http://pastebin.com/1VBrgBB1 I enabled debug, restarted the box load pvr client and start live tv then tried to change channel. I spent all weekend replacing win7 media center with this xbmc / myth ubuntu build to get a grumpy wife because its a pain changing channel (Gumpy wife = grumpy life). Any help on where do I start? Do I need to use the Eden-PVR Branch rather than the Master? RE: New MythTV add-on using libcmyth - tsp42 - 2012-07-04 09:37 darrenrogan+cspack: Yes there is an issue with the current master branch and playback of LiveTV streams (see this issue). If you want stability stick to the Eden-PVR branch (That is the version I use on my HTPC). Could both of you post a stack dump and a log file as outlined in the very first post in this thread. RE: New MythTV add-on using libcmyth - darrenrogan - 2012-07-04 10:20 thanks, tsp42. I'll get the extra info tomorrow and post it up (about time of this post tomorrow). Otherwise it will lock up xbmc. And trying to enter the channel number doesn't work also. (ex. 340) latest Eden-PVR branch. Additionally, if your watching a channel for a long time it starts to slow down with no audio (frame drops) and log shows a bunch of sync issues with the backend. It may be an audio sync issue though, I haven't spent much time chasing it down, figured someone else was already on top of it. RE: New MythTV add-on using libcmyth - darrenrogan - 2012-07-05 10:03 Hi tsp, here are the logs http://pastebin.com/7QQbsAbh - gdb http://pastebin.com/1Dp339Mk xbmc.log part 1 http://pastebin.com/B59M3BJW xbmc.log part x2 http://pastebin.com/KwZh4SBq xbmc.log partx3 http://pastebin.com/VPq9z1MQ xbmc.log part x4 http://pastebin.com/Se8e2eRR xbmc.log part x5 This was buit from master, I'm switching over to Eden-pvr. If you need anything else please let me know. Thanks No Audio - Mad Medik - 2012-07-06 05:24 Request for some help, and in advance, let me appologise for the very long post and state emphatically that I have tried searching this thread and spent most of this week searching the net for a solution without success. I'd really appreciate help resolving this one. Problem: I get no audio while in XBMC (no menu navigation sounds, no media sound) on a frontend unit. My main PC is running perfectly as a frontend and a server with this version of XBMC, tvtuner card, Myth backend along with Sick Beard, Couch potato, and SABnzb. It is a secondary PC in another room, that is acting as a frontend only that I am stumped on. I am 100% sure it is not a hardware problem as I was running XBMC (regular version) on Ubuntu 12.04 on this PC previously. Setup: Intel pentium PC 2.8ghz with 2 GB ram AGP NVidia 6200 video card 512 MB On board Intel Audio Creative Sound Blaster Live! card (Shows up as CA0106 in XBMC) USB keyboard & Mouse Audio to LG Plasma via 1/8" stereo jack from Computer audio out (green) to monitor stereo in. Optical audio out from monitor to amp Video DVI out from computer to HDMI in on monitor. --- As I have previously had XBMC running smoothly on this PC, I am confident it is not the hardware, rather a configuration issue but the above is provided for info purposes --- What I have done so far: Format and install Ubuntu 11.10 All updates applied to 06 July 2012 Activated proper NVidia proprietary driver (version current) Tested the sound settings. I can hear the notification sounds, I can play music in banshee. I hear "left front, right front" or whatever she says for the speaker test when I select analog stereo or analog stereo duplex and test. I moved the audio cable to the Creative SB output and repeated. Same results. So far so good. Mount network drive - Shows up as internal and is accessible within XBMC from root/media Installed the three libboost items from post 1 Install git-core Cloned xbmc.git from TSP's git hub link Copied the install command for all dependancies listed in the ~/xbmc/docs/README.ubuntu including autopoint & libltdl-dev Entered the xbmc directory and executed the ./bootstrap, ./configure, make, and sudo make install commands. Rebooted Start XBMC from Dash Home - looks good Configure Settings, including Settings>System>Audio Output with Analog, 2.0 Under Audio Output Device, there are 6 options (four identical CA0106, one Intel ICH5,ICH5 and one Intel ICH5,Intel ICH5-IEC958) I set it to Intel ICH5,Intel ICH5, set GUI sounds to always plugged the audio cable into the internal sound output (green plug) and under Settings>Appearance> set the Navigation sounds to Bubbles I tried playing the same song I played with Banshee. No sound. No navigation sounds. I tried clicking on the settings icon in lower right in the fullscreen mode for music playback but there is no response. I tried playing 2 recorded TV shows and a movie, all of which I have previously watched on this PC with XBMC under a 12.04 Ubuntu install. In each, I checked the audio settings during playback, trying first Analog and then going through all combinations. No sound. I then went systematically through all iterations of the settings in the Settings>System>Audio Output; trying Analog, HDMI & Optical on all six of the output device options 4 CA0106, Intel ICH5,Intel ICH5 and Intel ICH5,Intel ICH5-IEC958 all with a song playing in the background. No sound. I moved the audio plug to the next position and repeated the above on each of the positions on the internal, and on the Creative SB card. No sound. I installed Gnome ALSA Mixer and Pulse Audio Volume control and ensured that there were no hidden settings on mute. I installed the XBMC Audio Mixer Add-On and checked the same; systematically checking one toggle at a time with a song playing in the background. I also cross checked by going into windowed mode and launching the sound settings and I was able to hear noticifations and the left/right test sounds. I don't have it in front of me but I found a process to uninstall pulseaudio and update alsa. I did this, which served no apparant benefit, and caused the loss of the ssystem sound test. I couldnt figure out how to get it back, so I reformatted and installed all over again. Same results. I have tried disabling the internal audio in the BIOS. But other than the disappearance of the two Intel ICH5 audio device options from XBMC and the disappearance of the internal audio from the system sounds hardware menu, my tests were the same: Audio works from the desktop but no love in XBMC with any combination of settings. I have reenabled the internal audio in the BIOS, and removed the Creative SB card. As expected, the Intel ICH5 options reappear, the Internal Audio reappears under System Settings, Hardware, and all associated Creative SB options disappear. Otherwise, my results are the same: full sound on the desktop & no love in XBMC I am at a loss as to where to go next and my wife and kids are about to mutiny as I have cancelled the satellite package (when i got it working previously) so we now only have one working TV and I havent left the basement in about a week... a little exaggeration, but not much... Anyhow, sorry for the loooong post but I figured I would try to provide as much detail about the problem as I could, and thanks in advance for any assistance. MM Here is a log file: logfile on pastebin RE: New MythTV add-on using libcmyth - dteirney - 2012-07-06 14:29 @Mad Medik, you might get some more thorough responses from the general forums where people who know more about sound issues might be watching. Sound problems can indeed be frustrating. I've had my fair share over the years. 1) I've always found that if the "speaker-test" command line utility isn't working then XBMC audio doesn't have a hope of working. In some cases, just running speaker-test managed to magically fix the problems I was having with sound output from XBMC. Try using the same hardware device that XBMC is configured to use when launching speaker test, e.g. speaker-test -c2 -Diec958 if using SPIDF. For your setup it looks like sound should just be going through the default device so speaker-test -c2 should mimic what XBMC should be using. 2) Using the stereo jack is probably fine if you only have a 2.0 speaker setup. Looks like the sound card supports SPIDF so going directly from the computer to the amp and bypassing the TV would allow for surround sound if you have that sort of speaker setup connected to the amp. 3) If you are using the standard stereo out, then try testing with a pair of headphones as well. 4) "Skipping device hw:0,1 as it does not have PCM playback ability". This looks like the issue. hw:0,1 looks like the device XBMC needs to be using. I think you could test that by trying speaker-test -c2 -Dhw:0,1 and see what happens. Sometimes the speaker-test error messages are more useful than the XBMC logs. 5) Check user permissions. I once had a problem where somehow the user that was logged in to run XBMC had been removed from the Audio group and didn't have permissions to access the device, and the error messages weren't as clear as that. 6) As you've done, make sure that alsamixer doesn't have anything on mute. Make sure you select the correct sound card when checking for that, especially since you have 2 installed. That tripped me up once as well. Press F6 to change the sound card within alsamixer. 7) Oh, and your config in XBMC should be Analog if you are plugging in a stereo jack. There's a bunch of alsa audio troubleshooting pages on the internet. Tis hard to find short succinct ones though. Good luck! I tried now changing the code in Code: lib/cmyth/libcmyth/connection.c line ~600Code: prog->proginfo_port=6543;This worked as workaround, so I can now watch recordings. Anyways, I currently have no idea why the plugin config does not work for me.
