Screensaver - additional behaviour - Chris! - 2011-09-29

Hi,

I run XBMC on a shuttle box in the lounge. Sometimes others in the flat want to watch TV and i'll want to watch something from the box - for which it is networked.

1) Is it possible to have fanart screen saver run for 5 minutes then default to a picture or dimscreen (perhaps saying something like press any button to wake)

2) Could this save power, as the box isn't having to pan images?

I was only thinking this as operating systems have the option to have a screensaver for a while then after x amount of time go to sleep. Sorry if it's already been suggest or this is too much of a selffish request.
I tried searching but only found old threads 3+ years.

Many thans

Nope. Feel free to feature request this on http://trac.xbmc.org.

Currently, panning images is as compute-intensive as idling on the home screen. Soon, dirty regions will result in (minor) power savings on the home screen or a static image.

I'm using shuttle's xs35gt. I love that it's completely solid state. The heat sink design is really magnificent, I actually analyzed it for my heat & mass transport phenomenon class Smile
