Exactly

Also, how close to the hole were you able to get the IR eye? It seems to me that if you use the bracket, the eye will sit almost a 1/4" behind the hole in the case. I would think it should sit as close to flush as possible, but maybe not?
Yes, without the mounting bracket in order to position it as close as possible to the hole. I started off by drilling a hole which had the same diameter as the eye of the receiver, but ended up drilling a hole that was considerably larger to make the visual range broader. When standing in front of the case you don't even see it as the case is pitch black inside.

I'm having trouble getting the Inteset CIR with ASRock mod to work. It can power on the PC, but once I install the Nuvoton drivers (from ASRock website), the power on stops working, unless I turn off the system before the OS is loaded. I can't get it work in WMC either (I suppose that should work out of the box). Based on what I've read, the drivers are installing correctly though: one MS eHome receiver driver and one Nuvoton CIR driver appears in the device manager.
I've tried it with both Windows 7 and 8. The remotes that I use are Harmony 300i (with MS WMC device setup) and a Fujitsu Siemens MCE remote. My motherboard is FM2A75M-ITX (latest bios installed). Oh, and I ordered the receiver in Germany (from cohaus-berlin.de). For some reason, it doesn't use any USB pin.

Edit: The product description in the shop now includes a warning about problems with Trinity APUs/Chipsets. Not sure if it only affects this particular ASrock mod, or all Inteset receivers. Guess I'll send it back and settle for S3 standby (difference in power consumptions is marginal with my system), since I couldn't find any of the mentioned receivers in Germany.

Edit #2: Everything is working fine now with the Bios version 1.8 that was released yesterday Big Grin

Ok, got the IR Receiver set up, and the rest of the HTPC built.

Installed OpenELEC, works fine, fast boot to xbmc with SSD! But no IR control. The Inteset website has instructions about downloading drivers for the IR Receiver, but they all seem to be for Windows. Anyone have any thoughts on getting this IR receiver to work with OpenELEC?

Yes I did enable CIR in bios...

Thanks!

Ok, got the remote working (Harmony 659) when OpenELEC is manually turned on. Now I need to get Wake from Off working. Any thoughts?

Hi,

I will building my HTPC shortly - I have the FM2A75 Pro4-M motherboard - Please tell me what I will need to enable power on via a remote on this unit? Also I was considering Ipazz remote - if anyone has any input on that brand of remote I would appreciate it.

Asrock FM2A75M-itx - openelec 3.0.
A6-5400
8GB ddr3
Bios version 1.90 - original comes with 1.1
USB Power on------ Enable (set it under advance - usb configuration)
Using IPazzPort 2.4G wireless mini keyoard with usb receiver, no drivers, don't worry about direction lol. Switch to turn it on/off, can be charged by laptop usb in less than 30 minutes AND LAST FOR FOR FEW DAYS. TURN SWITCH OFF IF NOT USING IT. A gentle touch on the pad will turn the PC on.Big Grin
10 feet for me is good.

I am using OPENELEC 3 last update FUSION bundle. No windows, There is a thread on how to install it, you must have W7 with all drivers installed (No need to install any driver for the Ipazzport or the Mediagate remotes , it will be detected later on, as openelec will do the favor for you - So Donate for them LOL)
I am using Ipazzport KP-810-10A, works great except turning off pc plus using both hands. Also I am using Mediagate GP - IR01BK it turns pc on/off also navigation/volume/return all works great but trying to find a dongle without the long usb cable that comes (off course attached to the receiver) with it. Now when I press off button it turns the case (Led light ) off. I just enabled the (USB turn pc on) in the bios and also enabled (Power on) which means when I turned the plug off (when away) and then turn it on again , the PC will starts automatically, then the remotes will work. In XBMC when I click the power bottom I see many options (suspend, shutdown, reboot) well the remote (Mediagate ) shut it down When I press the Power bottom (No LED power blinking) and when I choose suspend from the menu (without pressing the Power bottom) the LED power starts blinking, and finally when I press the Power bottom again the PC starts. So all is fine except for finding the little dongle that will work with this remote. I am looking at the thread for this remote, tying to find it again (The little dongle) , lool. Big Grin

Got this e-mail from Simerec. does anyone know what is new with this? I need this in lack of CIR-header.

Quote:Hi Lars,

The PCS-MA is being replaced with the PCS-MB which will be on the site for sale later next month. The specs will be on the site the second week of Feb.

Thanks, and contact any time.

so I haven't had a chance to read this entire thread so forgive me if my questions have already been answered. Just quote the answer for me please.

Just built my first htpc:
Fractal design node 605
Asrock h77m
I3 3225
Crucial 64gb ssd
Wdcb 1tb
Sst strider 500w
Gskill 8gb ddr3 1600
Panasonic slim bdrom burner

I use my harmony one to control everything except my pc. I want to be able to turn on (and off) from s5 with this remote. I'm nervous to use asrocks onboard cir for two reasons: I would have to use the front usb and they are 3.0 and I want to keep them free for my devices; and I have read that their cir is quite buggy and cannot do much else except turn on and off pc.

I have noticed in the uefi there are a few power options.
Ps/2, serial, usb keyboard/remote, usb mouse power on from s5. I have tested both wired usb keyboard and mouse and they do indeed turn on from s5 if they were plugged in when the machine was powered down. This DID NOT work with my wireless Perixx peripad keyboard/touchpad.

My question is: could one of these uefi options be used with an mce ir remote/receiver to turn on the machine from s5? I would rather spend the money on a better remote with more compatibility with my system and applications. I was specifically looking at the ir01bk because many reviewers said it was compatible out of box with xbmc.

Oh and I don't really want to drill a hole in my case for an internal ir switch. So I need to use a receiver that has a cord to reach from the back usb ports that will sit atop the case at the front.

Thanks in advance for any advice you have for me.

P.S. I just tried with this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004SZU0T4/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1358919670&sr=8-3&pi=SL75

It has an I/o button and both turns off (s5) and back on. Luckily I have something that works. I just need to know I'd this will work with an ir receiver and my harmony remote. I really want to make an htpc activity which will turn on my lights, tv, receiver, and pc all at once. It would be really convenient.

I have a Asrock E350M1 motherboard. In BIOS I can select Wake on USB remote/keyboard, and Wake on USB Mouse. When I enable these options I can power on my computer with a usb keyboard or mouse. But I cannot power on with my remote. I can see a red light on my HP USB Receiver, that indicate that the power on button is recieved. Am I doing something wrong?

I've tried this with both a logitech harmony remote, programmed both as a keyboard and as a remote, and also a HP MCE remote, and it's still the same, the recieved blinks a red light, but I cannot power on.

Question 2:
I know that this motherboard has a CIR header, is there some way to use the HP reciever with the CIR header?

AFAIK the only way to get CIR working is to use one of Intesets recievers http://shop.inteset.com/Category/7-remotes-receivers.aspx or Asrocks reciever..http://www.asrock.com/mb/spec/card.asp?Model=Smart%20Remote

I have the Interset internal reciever and, once you have it figured, it works great. I know some people were having trouble getting the Asrock version to work.
