Force XBMC to use Ember scaped images? - fluentdesigns - 2011-10-03

Is it possible to force XBMC to use the already downloaded images and fan-art that I used Ember to scape? When updating my library I notice it uses default images from what ever it finds but with ember I have already chosen certain images that I want to appear in my list such as fan-art and cover art etc... I get a lot of other language covers that I don't particularly like.

XBMC always prioritizes local nfo and images. How have you configured your scraper and how is your Ember install configured to name your images/fanart?

Here is a list of files for the movie Your Highness

/extrathumbs
fanart.jpg
folder.jpg
movie.jpg
movie.nfo
movie.tbn
Your Highness.nfo
Your Highness.tbn
Your Highness-fanart.jpg
Your Highness.avi

I have never had XBMC not use my local images, with the exception of artist thumbs and fanart which I can't figure out how to update once XBMC has loaded from the internet first.

movie.tbn

Your Highness.avi

you can delete half of these files. Either use 'movie....' or 'Your Highness...'
No need to have this double.

How about fanart?

Can I remove the <movie>-fanart.jpg as well and just use fanart.jpg?

Yes, just use fanart.jpg, movie.tbn, movie.nfo and movie-trailer.<ext>.

If you chose to use movie.... set the scraper in xbmc to 'use foldernames for lookup'

His file structure led me to believe that everything was in it's own folder. He's using /extrathumbs for example.

Indeed, they go in the movie folder NOT extrathumbs.

Context menu > Get fanart.

What they are telling you is your folder structure should look something like this:
C:\MOVIES\
Movie.Title.year\
-----^-Movie.Title.year.mkv
-----^-Movie.Title.year.nfo
-----^-Movie.Title.year.tbn
-----^-Movie.Title.year-fanart.jpg

note, the filenames below work just as well as long as 'use folder names for lookup' is enabled.
fanart.jpg
folder.jpg
movie.jpg
movie.nfo
movie.tbn

I don't want to do that. Even when I do that for get thumb, it doesn't always work. I want XBMC to use what I've put in the artist folder automatically.

- fluentdesigns - 2011-10-03

so what does the .tbn file hold? the cover art? which would be folder.jpg?

- Martijn - 2011-10-03

.tbn is just a type of image container. Similar to .jpg
Should be indeed the same as folder.jpg/tbn or poster.jpg/tbn
