sorry to ask this question, but i really can't go through reading 27 pages of this thread Oo

I really need a player for my kids to watch their videos:-

Can the raspberry easily handle all video formats?
Can it easily do 1080p?
Can it be used as a NAS?

thanks again

It's an experimental piece of kit, just released and xbmc on it will be buggy to start with.

I expect it will require tinkering, bug reporting, generally rolling up your sleeves and getting involved.

No offence, but if you can't even be bothered to read the thread then I doubt your ready for the level of commitment this will require to start with! Better to wait for others to test/iron out the bugs for you.....

Grabbed mine from Farnell pre order. Latest is they will be shipped on 26th march.

The Raspberry Pi made it to this morning's BBC Radio 4 Today programme!

It's confirmed, there out of stock! Sad

Just called Farnell after hours of trying to get on the website, only to be told by an automated voice that they are out of stock.

Unbelievable shambles ... trying to register on Farnell's Spanish site ... endless internal server errors

Somebody didn't think this one out before pressing the Start button!

NONE TAKEN! Laugh
The thing is Jimmer mate that i've spent a good couple of weeks doing my head in trying to sort out xbmc on my htpc...i eventually got there, thanks to our great friend JHSRennie and others.

i am for the moment just enjoying my setup and although it still has few issues to iron out, i'm extremely happy with it.

The point of the rpi is not about specs.

The 2 distributors have been near enough useless, Farnell barely working the entire time, and RS might as well have not bothered cos they're not even attempting to sell it yet. So i officially dub them 'Farcehell' and 'RSholes' Shocked.

Not particularly impressed with the price either, £29.46 ($47) is a fair way from the $35 it was marketed as being, and thats with free UK postage too.
Got to wait 12 days for estimated delivery though.
Cant help but think there must have been far far better ways to go about this whole thing, especially a 6am launch for a UK product sold by 2 UK distributors, so if theres the problems most people predicted they're both closed and they pick a launch time thats hardly ideal for folks in the UK, US, EU... anywhere?

£29.46 wtf!

They should of got Scan.co.uk invovled at least they are well known and have great customer service.

anyway the PR team are doing a great job though! It is on the BBC News homepage (number 1 most read!) and *cough* The Daily Mail *cough* have it too. Also trending currently on twitter! this thing is gonna be huge!

Hope someone here got their hands on one and can put up a cheeky youtube of how xbmc runs!
