Failed to initialize audio - Failed to open VDPAU backend - jaeger2000 - 2011-11-13 Hello, Fresh install, XBMC on Ubuntu 11.10. When trying to play media >~350MB, in the XBMC GUI I receive the following error message and no sound plays: "Failed to initialize audio" All sounds work fine in the desktop, using XBMC menu and media <350MB. If launching XBMC from the command line, playing a <350MB file produced the error message: "Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". This error makes sense as I don't have that video related file installed as I use an ATI graphics card. Anyone solved this?
