How to scan movies? - najkks - 2011-11-16

got a problem here.. dont know how to re-scan (update) my movies..

aka "scaping" so that i can see them in library-view

i got a external usb-disk (seagate)

at the moment im only able to see about 267 movies in xmbc, out off 300.

ive searched in the menues - but couldnt find how to solve this!

still i have not find the "file mode" to reach the source of my movies..

You can access the library views to your specific content with the "Movies" and "TV Shows" icons in the home menu e.g.

As for showing your contents as files you can try accessing them via "Videos" and choosing the appropriate source you added earlier.

You can rescan from library mode by using the context menu while higlighting an item in library view.

Like this:

go to "Movies"
choose one of the movies (not the back link)
access the context menu
choose update library

edit: either I am a little sleepy today or this topic was in the Alaska sub-forum when I started answering...either way, this is for the Alaska version of the menus

well im using the alaska revisited mod

ive choosen the destination when i used "import library", the usb-disc (F:/) where i have almost all of my movies.. but still i can only see 253 out of 344 movies when im in the "movies-page" (where i choose which movie to play)

now why is this.. hmm?

also.. is it possible to hide the "THE" that sometimes comes before a movie, example "the maiden heist" to only be "maiden heist" - using a setting in the xbmc-skin.. because i need the "THE" in the moviename so that tmdb.org can scrap it as it should.

do i have to do anything more than set the folder for "import library" ?

The fact that some of your movies show up in library view suggests that your source is set correctly. The missing movies could be explained by the scraper not being able to parse your file names correctly and thus not finding the movie information.

As for hiding the 'the'...I am not sure, I think you can choose if the movies should be sorted using 'the' or the next word...but I don't know if you can hide it completely...
