Xorg.0.log File deleted! - john.cord - 2011-11-27

Hi

I deleted my xorg.0.log file but x does not create a new one after a reboot. How do i get x to create a new log file. I need to read out the modes for my xorg.conf...

Try executing `touch /var/log/xorg.0.log` and reboot. If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. If it is having issues creating the file that could solve it.

How do you know when to use modlines I've been messing with my own Ubuntu minimal 11.04 install and don't know if I need to add modlines or just use that nvidia.sh

- pumkinut - 2011-11-27

Give the nvidia.sh a try and see if it works. If not you'll need to go the modeline route, but the script is easy and pretty hands-off.

The script is using the Logfile i deleted and does not work with the nightly builds and the uxlaunch stuff.

Ok, tested the touch command. Does not solve my problem.
