Im sorry, I feel like im spamming.... I can't find revison 65! I type 65 on the revision search box and it gives me 64.

theboxway: read this. it tells you how to download and compile. https://opensvn.csie.org/links2xbmc/Compiling-Links.txt note that you will now be using tortiose svn for getting the main xbmc source also since they switched to svn. The checkout address for xbmc is https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xbmc/trunk/XBMC

after you get a working current compile per the directions, you just make an extra directory somewhere on your hard drive do a tortoisesvn checkout, select the links svn address (https://OpenSVN.csie.org/links2xbmc) and enter revision 65 in the prompt instead of the default "HEAD revision" checkbox. Then you can take all the files in the skin directory and move them to the working build's skin directory (overwrite them). Then you should be able to at least take a look at the graphical browser window. Don't expect these to be bug free, as they're from a really old version. enjoy.

I got it working.... Now my next question, from what I understand, is that you have an updated svn that works with the latest cvs that has the graphical browser. If so how can I get that?

- splurt - 2007-01-15

What I have is just a custom modification of the skin files that uses britneyspairs' old webbrowser background. I just added some stuff to the browser screen and made sure it's fully compatible with the newer svn's. It's not updated source code or graphics (png), just skin xml's. Unfortunately, I have a problem with the newest build that I'm hoping to resolve. I'm still using the 2.0.1 links2xbmc. Once I get this issue fixed up, I'll see if coolgamer or los93 will add my skin xmls to the svn. You can, of course, fix up the skin xml's however you want. Just read the xbmc skinning tutorial. It's really quite easy.

Quote:Maxconsole: What lies ahead for the future of the project ?

Pike: There will be a very cool surprise included with 2.0.0, that's all I can say! After 2.0.0 point sourcecode has been released, one thing we will add to CVS is the controversial 'Links WWW Browser' that ysbox has been working on for quite some time now.

What ever happened to this? It would be nice if they would merge LinksBoks into the core tree.

"They" == ysbox. He hasn't been around for quite a while, thus the reason it hasn't been merged to the latest codebase and placed in a branch of SVN.

Until someone stumps up and takes responsibility for maintaining it, it won't be placed in a branch or the main trunk.

Cheers,
Jonathan

The most I am able to do with the linksboks source is syncing it to the latest XBMC source. I don't really have the knowledge to add anything to it or do anything else with it.
Jmarshall: What exactly has to be done with linksboks before it can be added to the official SVN? Because it seems to me that it is pretty stable besides a couple of minor bugs.

Just did a compile of the new version. The scaling "bug" is still there but thanks to Splurt that pointed out that you can change the browser size in PAL/WebBrowser.xml i can now surf in fullscreen.

As Splurt said maybe its got to do with the new skin system (2.1)

I also have a small problem when i compile with the skin.
If i copy the skin files and xml files from links over the orginal skin files BEFORE i compile. Then everything is black except the homescreen internet bakground and the text. But if i first compile and then later copy the skin files to the BUILD dir everything works. Maybe some trouble with XBMCTex.

Oh and some new screenshots:

Question, "If" or "when" Linksboks gets integrated is it possible to be able to browse directories with saved webpages on the xbox like the media files and be able to click on them and linksboks would open to them?

- theboxway - 2007-01-16

When is Linksboks going to be able to play videos from youtube and such?

well, for youtube videos you can simply use the script ...

- spiff - 2007-01-23

linksboks will NEVER be able to play stuff from youtube. youtube requires flash and probably javascript. of which linksbox supports none.
