If you provide a logfile with debugging turned on eventually ....

That was quick! Can you tell me how to turn logging on, and will do as you suggest tonight when I get home..

Nope - as you can read this very detailled in the wiki.

thnx, it worked! but i must say, that mythtv is much slower than tvheadend! changing a channel takes too long time for me! i´m back on tvheadend!

wsnipex maybe can u make new iso with xbmc 12.0 frodo final + xvba + catalyst 13.1? I think some people like it Smile Thx

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - fritsch - 2013-02-11

@RedCat:
Catalyst 13.1 is not possible, because it cannot do Vertical Blank Sync if Tearfree is disabled. Tearfree we highly need to avoid, cause it uses Triple Buffering, whereas xbmc video playback controls swapBuffers (double buffer) to be in sync. I am in contact with AMD to fix this regression.

Hey guys,

Using the stable Frodo build here on my i3 based system, using VAAPI. Compared to Eden it has been fantastically stable, so well done for that. However! On a number of occasions I have had a problem with Live TV video (played via TVHeadend) freezing while the audio continues. The audio just keeps on playing until I hit stop. At this point, the audio stops and it tries to change the refresh rate back to 60Hz (from 50hz) as I have that setting enabled. But instead I end up with a 'No Signal' at the TV while xbmc continues to run fine according to top. This only seems to happen with MPEG2 streams, I don't think I've ever had it happen with a HD H264 stream.

This time I managed to get a debug log of the moment it went wrong, along with what happened when I pressed stop: http://pastebin.com/GdJGU1xF Nothing relevant appears after that final xrandr command, just goes back to updating recording the EPG.

Think this is fixable? Thanks!

One question about Video settings:
I have a Fusion system, but in Settings->Video->Playback the following hardware decoding methods are active:
- VDPAU
- VAAPI
- XVBA
Should I deactivate VDPAU and VAAPI? What are the suggested settings?

Thank you

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - wsnipex - 2013-02-16

doesn't make a difference. An AMD system will always use xvba, but you can disable the others

I've got a fusion system (AMD Zacate 350)
Reinstalled my htpc with 12.10 and by following the guide..
I've encountered some small annoyances:

Going from menu to playing content and back to menu from playing content will take 5secs.. This is didn't experience in the old build.
Anyone else experience this?

I've got a wireless keyboard that i use to control the htpc. (http://www.hyratech.com/images/T/KB-LT-MK320.JPG)
It has some "task-switch" hotkey just above the esc key and misclicking this one makes XBMC go into windowed mode and becoming choppy.
After switching to fullscreen through settings I have to restart XBMC to get it to run okay again.
I could always remove the button but I think it would be better to disable the binding for that one.

Happened again, this time with a HD H264 channel Sad

full logs only.

from the little info in this snippet, it could be a TV headend problem

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - Begall - 2013-02-18

I would perhaps have thought the same, but it isn't, I had the same thing happen while locally playing a .mp4 file. Next time it happens I'll get the full log, although thanks to some serious log spam from TVHeadend and others my last full debug was 38MB from 2 days...

Edit:

Unfortunately trying to paste in either of the 2 logs I just found (one 9MB the other 32MB) causes Chrome to crash Sad
