RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - laric - 2013-03-20

so do you suggest we stay on xbmc-xvba or should we go with xbmc-xvba-frodo?

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - Frank-NL - 2013-03-20

Depends on your risk-appetite Smile If you want stable go for Frodo, if you want to fix issues with each update go for xvba.

Then it will be xvba-frodo for the 2 main machines in the lounge.. else my wife will kill me Smile

which issue which each update? Imho we've been really stable with the xbmc-xvba. The fewer users use unstable the less likely we are finding bugs before stable releases.

OK not every update will break something, true! I meant that if you need a stable XBMC it is not advisory to use alpha builds as they are in xvba.
I have been using xvba from Frodo alpha 7 to gold and it worked really well, but now I want to enjoy Frodo as stable software, without having to look into skin and addon issues.

And I hope many people will help testing, I don't have a second environment I can use at the moment unfortunately!

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - laric - 2013-03-20

xbmc-xvba has been really nice and stable but if it isn't updated anymore I should probably go with the frodo one right?

What is the new things in gotham so far anyhow?

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - fritsch - 2013-03-20

We will continue to update it - currently we have planned to do it before every new merge window.

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - laric - 2013-03-20

is the plan to move xvba into gotham general release during the dev cycle or will it stay seperate?

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - tutu - 2013-03-20

I've just done a sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade (using xbmc-xvba) and now lightdm is not starting xbmc (last time I updated was about christmas)

I have checked the guide and all the previous config files are present?

Don't know if this is relevant. There is no xbmc log

System is Ubuntu 12.10 with AMD Trinity on AMD Catalyst 13.1. I have removed my .xbmc folder with settings in it so that is not it.

Advantage for Intel iGPU ? - LastCoder - 2013-03-22

Hi,

I'm atm using the standard xbmc builds from the ppa - will I have advantages with hwaccel for my Intel iGPU if using the xvba build over the standard build ?

In the first post it's all about AMD GPUs, but since the thread is called "XBMC Xvba for .. /Intel GPUs" I thought it could be useful for Intel iGPUs too ?!?

it is. Besides Xvba and a complete VDPAU rewrite, this branch features player buffering, proper X support(multi screen, xrandr) and some other improvements. Although its the least noticeable on intel, there are still improvements.

Hello and thank you for this wonderful piece of software!

I've followed the guide and have my E350 setup up and running git builds. Only issue I have currently:
After some idle time, when my TV (connected via hdmi) goes to sleep, xbmc goes to 100% cpu usage (for 1 core).

Unfortunately this causes high temps in my fanless setup and a lot of power consumption. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks.

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - fritsch - 2013-03-24

Please read back and make sure you are running:

xorg 1.12 (inlcluding Ubuntu Precise): fglrx 12.10
xorg 1.13 (starting with Ubuntu Quantal): fglrx 12.9Quantal Edition.

Every driver newer than those cause 100% CPU load on one core.

Try to change the screensaver to the black one.

As you are running git builds - make sure you rebuild, fernetmenta has found an important fix two days ago concerning the beloved ASIC hang.

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - birbilakos - 2013-03-24

I'm running:
X.Org X Server 1.11.3
and Catalyst 13.1
I think I chose this fglrx cause it was the one that got sound via hdmi working when getting back after tv was off/on.

Which version of fglrx is the suggested one? Any links?

Thanks.

EDIT:
Seems like reverting back to 12.10 does the trick!

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - EazyVG - 2013-03-25

I have the older XBMCbuntu (freak edition) running with 3.2.x kernel with the XBMCFreak repository (/wsnipex/xbmc-xvba-testing/ubuntu precise main) for keeping up with the latest XBMC packages. Now I want to upgrade the system from 0 but cannot find the latest .iso with final XBMC. I found beta2.AMD.iso http://www.xbmcfreak.nl/xbmcbuntu-12-frodo-beta-2-images-are-here/ (running A6-3500), but not final build.

The current system has been running flawlessly until yesterday something went wrong with kernel updates; unable to boot!!!

Or should I simply download the latest from xbmc.org xbmcbuntu amd edition and add the xbmcfreak repository manually to have a what i had before? If so, can you please point out which repository i need to add for latest rolling xbmc tuned for amd graphics/setup with all the latest from xbmcfreak?

As you have guessed I am little confused as had the setup from long time ago Smile

Thanks and much appreciate.
