I did follow the howto, but there was no signature present in the /etc/ati directory to begin with... thx for the workaround... upgraded to 12.2 from 12 and this driver at the same time and it otherwise went perfectly. Everything is nice and smooth. Thanks very much for the howtos.

If you missed this step, replace /etc/ati/signature with: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55728161/signature

Doesn't look like the xbmc-xvba-testing ppa is building correct at the moment.

xbmc and xbmc-bin are not on the same level it looks like.

correct. Next version should be fine again.

Why are you quoting yourself?

To all of those using the xbmc-xvba-testing:

Since three days we are shipping a new AudioEngine by default. ActiveAE is a complete rewrite of SoftAE and has some advanced features. To only name some of them:
- Correct delay calculation
- Sink is in its own thread, so underruns caused by busy audio engine should not appear anymore
- Audiophile by default, if you turn off crossfading
- CPU load is massively reduced
- New Gui setting to disable / enable streaming of "noise" - that keeps some AVR pcm signals up

If you are using a slow AVR (meaning it has approx 200 ms delay when the first sound is started), you should enable the new setting in the Gui. For the rest give it a try and check for underruns.

Quick question is there any plan to add the ability to clone audio to the analogue output as well as hdmi.

Reason I am asking is my Receiver has zone2 but it can only take input from analogue so when I play audio it is a hassle to get it to come out zone2 speakers as well as the mains.

No and no support is currently planed. Everything you find out there is just evil hacks.

RE: How to Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - Saner - 2013-07-23

could anyone help me diagnose what my problem is.

If I use xvba-testing in the last few builds (since the New AE) I am having issues.

I get no sound, and I also have judder vision (14 FPS)

I am guessing its just my setup because nobody else has mentioned it :p

If someone can give me some pointers on what to look for that would be great.

Video/audio sync problem after skip - pshepherd - 2013-07-23

Hi, I am seeing an issue when playing some files on the current xbmc-xvba.

If I use the remote to 'skip forward' the video playback sometimes becomes jumpy (not smooth) and loses sync with the audio. It seems more likely to happen if the skip key is pressed a few times quickly. Stopping playback and then restarting often allows playback to continue from the last point smoothly. This phenomena can happen on HD and SD content (which was recorded by a separate mythtv backend and played back via NFS).

I think all the xbmc playback settings are as recommended:

vertical blank sync: always enabled
vdpau: on
sync playback to display
a/v sync: video clock (drop/dupe)

The debug log is at http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=38944

Thanks for your help, Paul

@saner:
From your setup I see, that you are using Analog Output - is this correct?

Check the System -> Settings -> System -> Audio Settings Tab. You might have to enable "Advanced Configuration", which is done by pressing "left" and selecting "Advanced" in Confluence Skin (switch back to that one to find those settings) while in Settings Menu.

@pshepher:
Quote:CSoftAE::InternalOpenSink - Using speaker layout: 2.1

Is this correct? Do you have two cables going away from your computer or is it just 2 speakers and "sub" that is attached via an external frequency separating filter. In that case, change it to 2.0. Also revisit your Audio Settings - as you have been silently upgraded to Hammer. - Sorry, you are still running older SoftAE, so not the issue here.

You also run SoftAE which I consider history. It's going to die soon. Please migrate to xvba-testing.

RE: How to Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - Saner - 2013-07-23

I am on xvba-testing. (new builds pretty much daily) ( deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/wsnipex/xbmc-xvba-testing/ubuntu raring main )

and yes I am using an analog output.

I have HDMI to my Projector and DVI to my TV, neither need to output sound, I then have a 3.5mm cable to my 5.1 kit.

I am planning to add a optical output soon (ish) so its not a deal breaker for me, I will just run 130713 as that works until then, but I would like to fix it obviously if its a problem my end.

Video and audio o/p is via a single hdmi cable.

I was running xbmc-xvba since april (without a problem) then switched to xbmc-xvba-testing in june when I started to see this problem. I then reverted to the (updated) xbmc-xvba in early july and the problem persisted. I will switch back to testing and revert.
