I didn't do anything Confused.
But from your reaction this should be removed?

Yes, and add the other stuff. -> #xbmc-xvba if I tell you every command, that forum thread is spammed.

Hey guys,
still can't believe it is happening, open source driver radeon beats out the proprietary one regarding video decoding. I've got it all running on my E-350 System, although I chose the 3.12 kernel instead of 3.11.1. As I watched a 1080p movie, both CPUs display 10-25% load, just like the load under fglrx and my HD 3D movies were also played nicely. BTW nice menu in this xvba-testing, giving you the choice how to play a 3D movie.

What I've noticed was that the pause&resume for caused the movie to flicker heavily (Star Trek - Into Darkness 1080p), seems that something got out of sync. Anyone else noticing this?

Why did you install vdpauinfo? All I get is:

display: localhost:10.0 screen: 0
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Error creating VDPAU device: 1

@MTroi:
See here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116996&pid=1512561#pid1512561

Post links to your xbmc.log (with debugging turned on) and to your dmesg | pastebinit

Yes I did also noticed that on few occasions, but not every time I pause & play. Seeking might also need some work as it takes some time to fill the buffer back again and resync. Playing x264 10bit content where there is no GPU acceleration I do not see such a problems.

Debug Log Debug Log Debug Log :-)

What exactly are you refering to? I'm quite sure, that I did all of that, except the kernel 3.11.1

Relax, you will get your debug log from me this evening. I neglected my girlfriend for setting it all up, so I made it up to her by watching a movie with her nearly right away.

At least you can have a look at the dmesg output:
dmesg pastebin

All right, more tinkering with a bit fresher mind.

The clicking during playback went away by using a patched kernel as fritsch suggested.

So for now it seems that there is only the other annoyance to solve (or ignore), the double action triggered by one physical keypress every now and then hasn't gone away but it might be more to do with XBMC update from xbmc-xvba-frodo to xbmc-xvba-testing than the driver change. Still, I tried to catch it in a debug log but I could not make it happen while debug logging was enabled. It still occurs with both IR remote and via CEC.

Otherwise XBMC seems to be working nicely, I'll be using the system to see if anything worth investigating comes up.

For checking VDPAU before firing up XBMC.. and it worked for me. But it doesn't mean it's needed.

If you get this - no hw accel will work with oss uvd and vdpau. Does not matter how hard you try :-)

haven't had the time to install the OSS driver, will do as i have it.
for the users with clicking sound when watching MKV, but not with MPG vor mp3...
please try to set audio to analog, but keep the output at HDMI, this was helping me some time ago.

reinstalled raring again but with x64 and installed fritsch's fixed kernel, audio clicking has now gone.

sigh, now the fun of trying to move my mythtv database over Smile

RE: How to Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - MTroi - 2013-09-24

So here we go with the requested files:

dmesg output:
DMESG Output

And the XBMC logfile:
xbmc.log

I've started the movie and then jumped a few seconds/minutes forward, that happened after 19:16:51 (Watching Star Trek - Into Darkness).

Regarding vdpauinfo: If vdpau wouldn't be able to use my GPU, my CPU would run nuts and the movie would not be watchable with low CPU load like it is. So I'd say it works nonetheless.

patch for the 13.8 beta memory leak with catalyst drivers. Tested it with xbmc and my memory leak is gone.

you might need following set in your environment for VDPAU to use different driver than nvidia and in this case open source radeon

VDPAU_DRIVER=r600
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib64/vdpau

Do you know where the famous original patch came from? Cause 13.8 beta2 compiles without any patch on 3.10 and 3.11 - so it was shipped by AMD?
