Experienced a couple of crashes while trying to watch a movie:

http://pastebin.com/YgkMYP1x

Is this related to the shared surfaces?

wsnipex Wrote:Step 2:
...
optional: disable underscan(black borders)
Code:
sudo aticonfig --set-pcs-val=MCIL,DigitalHDTVDefaultUnderscan,0

Please add that X-Server must be down when running this command other way this useless because on X-Server shutdown PCS database will be re-written and DigitalHDTVDefaultUnderscan key will be lost.

Still lots of lots of crashes also with VNSI.

http://paste.ubuntu.com/785146/

I don't get it, on Lars' repo it was pretty much rock solid.
What can cause these crashes with this version?

This looks like an SQL Problem. Do you use a custom theme / skin? Totally xvba unrelated.

From your log:
Quote:00:12:10 T:140328702387968 ERROR: SQL: Insertion failed because database is full
Query: insert into addonlinkrepo (idRepo, idAddon) values (16,651)
00:12:10 T:140328702387968 ERROR: AddAddon failed on addon 'XWMM'
00:12:10 T:140328702387968 ERROR: SQL: Insertion failed because database is full

Never seen "Database is full" though.

Normally, if you follow this howto step by step. There is no xserver with fglrx running at step 2. Cause it says: build and install fglrx, run underscan command, reboot. But it is worth adding, if people do it later, thx for this tipp.

This is in deed xvba related. Upload Texture causes a segmentation fault, but no other xvba thread is running which interfers, so no fglrx threading issue (these we fixed some weeks ago).

These crashes happen together with the following lines in log:
Quote:00:04:09 T:140278732830464 WARNING: XVBA::GetPicture: old presentPicture was still valid - now discarded
00:04:15 T:140278732830464 WARNING: Previous line repeats 9 times

I will forward this xvba issue to Fernetmenta.

Edit: Could you please open an issue at: https://github.com/FernetMenta/xbmc/ ? Link your logfiles, tell us a bit what you are doing. If it is movie dependend, what your settings are (XVBA, Shared Surfaces, Adjust Display Frequency), etc. So we can track this down.

I used Aeon MQ3 some time ago but in general I'm using the default Confluence.
I also tried recreating a new XBMC profile and just copied in few plugins repos, so this profile is kinda fresh.

I'll re-install Lar's version to see if things are better and report my findings.

Doubt this. Reading the logfiles it crashes concerning on some plugins with SQL(lite).

What can I say?
I have no interest in telling things that are no true, do I?

I'll try starting fresh once again, this time without copying the plugins repos and I'll pass on installing any plugin to see if that changes anything.

Ah, sorry i did not express myself right. Meant: I doubt it is clean after copying files into this directory :-)

fritsch Wrote:Enable vsync in xbmc should be enough to get tearing handled. If this does not work, the second you can try is in amdcccle to set the 3D - more options - Wait for vblank to Quality (slider to the right) <- sorry do not have a catalyst handy at the moment, so translations do vary.

If all of this does not work: enable tearfree through amdcccle, which should be the last resort.

Took me a while to find out where Xbmc hides its vsync settings, and then I noticed it was in the opening post of this topic all along... Shame on me.

Thanks fritsch. Playback is looking good now Smile. Next step will be trying to apply the patches to the Eden beta Smile.

OK, clean start from now.
The only thing I did is importing my video DB and enabled VNSI and one more plugin.
Hope XBMC will now play nice Smile

Guys,
How do I enable SPDIF?
Thnx

Hello, thanks for your work first and happy new year.
Unfortunately the latest build breaks the ability to play .iso files, could you have a look please?

- wsnipex - 2012-01-01

if there is an issue with iso files, then it is probably from upstream. please provide more info, starting with a full debug log.
