Hi Gang...

Just wanted to say One More Vote here for the GP-IR02BK (running OpenELEC on Celeron NUC from microUSB stub).

Found today for thirty bucks in a local computer store... plugged it into the NUC and it's All-Buttons-Working Great !

I wish it could learn to power the bedroom TV On/Off... but that manual task will have to be considered beneficial "exercise" Blush

Thanks to everyone for sharing their insight and experience.
Cheers,
Grant

what you mean picking up the other remote?

RE: Remote Controllers for XBMC - solamnic - 2013-08-13

Hm.. forgot the existence of this thread... nvm I will post some settings for Harmony 300 in order to make the experience
snappier in case someone needs it it the future...
(already posted them in http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=156255&page=2 )

Go to myharmony.com and program a button for Microsoft Media Center

Then contact Logitech support and ask them to:

-Change repeats to 2 for Microsoft Media Center
-Change Inter-Key delay to 300ms for Microsoft Media Center

Wait for Logitech's answer and resync the Remote via MyHarmony.com

After that Harmony 300 gets really more responsive...

Enjoy

Naw... that would be too easy. The TV remote has developed "unreliable" buttons... the Exercise is to step up to the TV, bend over to squint at raised black lettering on the black casework, and press the power button. Very taxing, and required twice for every viewing session Big Grin

The remote from the cable box does the switching now, but the NUC - bless its little heart - will replace the cable box (and monthly subscription fee) ASAP Wink

Gonna do this as the weekend. Have two 300s that'd benefit from this! Plus hope they'll sort out why I can't,change the volume on my Samsung telly when in media centre mode [its tagged to do it] works fine with to toshiba telly in the same mode!

Cheers though!

Two interesting remote & keyboard combo that added recently to DX.

VMX3

RII RT-MWK25

None of these is close to perfect.
I like part of the remote side layout of the first unit (full mce layout would be perfect) although some of the labels aren't useful at all (browser ? really ?, zoom? WTFHuh).
And the keyboard side of the second unit is already perfect (Shift, CTRL and ALT are very useful in XBMC and also to change input language).
Both got IR learning capability which is great, another two dedicated buttons for turning on AVR, toggle AVR input would make these better.

p.s.
I have a similar remote to the VMX3 (same manufacturer, different layout) and the codes sent by the remote are a little messed up,
For example the Ch+, Ch- doesn't send Page Up, Page Down (and there're more issues).
The issues can be fixed in XBMC with properly mapped keyboard.xml but this doesn't help for other activities (except XBMC) for example controling a desktop, browser and etc...
So keep in mind that there is no promise that the VMX3's keys are sending the right codes (but I'll probably will get this version also).
Also part of the buttons' labels aren't useful so I re-labeled them with stickers.

If anyone would offer a unit with the first one remote side (with proper labels) and the second one keyboard side, I absolutely sure I will grab few from him. (Cough... J1nx ... Cough... Pulse Eight)

RE: Remote Controllers for XBMC - Punkss2 - 2013-09-25

I own a Bravia TV and a Bravia sound system and I want to be able to use one remote to rule them all.
I found this remote: http://store.sony.com/p/Sony-Voice-Activated-Google-TV-Remote/en/p/NSGMR7U#specifications
and this BT dongle: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2J60UE2261

Does anyone have any experience with these items or can foresee any issues that may occur?

Thanks in advance for any help.
