No tactile feel like a true remote and maybe bulky but does soooo much more.

Great work by Freezy - it's a killer app.Cool

yeah, goodbye to all those IR/RF remotes.

1 remote to control all is just the way to go!
i Press 1 button and all my gear fire's up!
i can sit back and relax!

Eskro,

I am very much interested in the Logitech Harmony Link as well. I have 5 Harmony Remotes (880s & 890s) that I would love to replace with a touchscreen tablet. The review on youtube suggests that the product is not ready for primetime yet, but I would love to know some of the capabilities.

FYI.. Also I use the iRule app on my iPAD to control all my devices in my Home Theater room. The iRule app communicates over the wi-fi to my Global Cache gc-100-06 device that is connected to my local network. The Global Cache device allows IR and RS232 (Serial communication) over your local network. The IR emitters and serial connections from the Global Cache device is connected to all my home theater devices. They even have a way to control the XBMC application running on your PC from iRule. I would suggest that you read the iRule forum on avsforum.com (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1351981).

The iRule application is great.....

Eskro, (or anybody else for that matter)
I didn't see whether or not this was clearly mentioned:
Which of these remote suggestions allows for power on/off (the way a set top box would)?
Thanks.

- eskro - 2011-12-26

jdwoods, on/off is not about remotes...
check in my HTPC guide...
i list ways to do so

I wonder which of those system will be more powerful and "user friendly" to help us in the building of the perfect remote Wink
The weak point is both systems can't share the "skins" created... Or not?

I use it as a complementary to the abovementioned IR remote to perform more advanced operations in Win 7 on my HTPC but it can be used as a replacement to IR remote. The only drawback is that you cannot use universal programmable/learning IR remotes (like Logitech Harmony) with it.

i own a couple of those keyboards and they work great but i have since switched to MCE remotes and recievers as some less technical family members could not navigate xbmc with them properly and were constantly calling me to put a tv episode or movie on for them
