Merry Xmas, great news on eden.

I have just perfected Dharma, can someone list the exact method to upgrade to eden.

Backup userdata, libraries, something along those lines Confused

Very nice.... Happy Holidays!

is this version have hd audio support ?

- voochi - 2011-12-24 20:40

Thanks for all the great work guys. I use OpenElec on my HTPC so I will wait until they do a stable version of Eden, but I tried the beta1 on my regular desktop and its working great. I don't much care for the default skin compared to the old Confluence but that's just personal taste.

have just upgraded. thanks. great christmas present. but 720p streaming via icefilms on apple tv 2 still stutters. i thought that was fixed in eden? anyway great job and merry christmas guys!

Too bad I'm at work right now. Wait, its Christmas Eve. No calls coming in. Hm.... Let me just vnc into my HTPC and kick off this install. Its a good use of company time right?

Well ! Will there be later release (HD Audio Support) Does anyone know ?

- System77 - 2011-12-24 23:32

thanks.. I like some of the new options. It was crashing on me till I rebooted my PC though. Since then its yet to crash.

Is there a way to get the menus vertically down the left side again? I dislike the way the menu's go horizontally across my screen now. Even at 1900 res I have to scroll them to see all the menus.

Edit:
meh.. driving me crazy. have to click a random menu just to get them to scroll so I can get to System, dont need weather that much, rolling back to old vertical style!

That's a codec issue. Sites like that insist on using Divx for their 720 movies, which the ATV2 chokes on because it can only hardware decode the h.264 codec. Divx is all CPU decoded, and the ARM processor on the A4 SoC just doesn't have the umph for 720 (for SD resolutions it should do fine). There might be some improvements to CPU decoding of Dvix with future FFmpeg updates planned for after Eden, as we have seen some 720 xvid videos work nicely on FireCore's player on the ATV2. That's a far ways off, and no guarantee that it will work.

If Apple ever makes an ATV with an A5 SoC, which is dual code, that will likely handle the 720 Divx videos. We've seen this happen with XBMC running on iPad2s. When the iPhone 4S gets jailbroken, it too will likely have that ability.

and a Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah to you devs out there!!
installed and running great - I had to install my the Transparency skin to set it all up right though. I'm just used to it that's all... 435 movies and counting..

It got bumped back to sometime "after Eden". That could mean Frodo (v12) due out next year, or it could (huge maybe here. Probably won't happen) be a mid year bump. The Devs have expressed a desire to do more frequent releases, and AudioEngine isn't that far off from being done, but there's a ton of factors to these things (most deal with that pesky real life/day job kinda stuff).

At worst, you'll have to install a Frodo nightly build to get AudioEngine (which includes the "HD" audio support) if you want it before next summer (another maybe. You never know what might happen).
