RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-06-08

Thank you nikr - I did install fing on my android and found the following:

3 avg ping
- packet loss
1 minimum ping
13 maximum ping
0 std dev. ping
0 estimated ping

I believe this ping test let me know that I can ping to my host laptop with xbmc installed.

I have a PF Portchecker and found that ports 80, 8080,8876, and 9777 were open.

Opened Yatse and added host: Media Center, Host IP - 192.168.0.xxx, webserver port 8080.

Generated "Error connecting. Check your settings and that XBMC is running.
Of course, XBMC is running and settings have been checked according to Yatse and XBMC setup many times.

I have further questions about Ipv4 and Ipv6, but I believe Win7 firewall is ok for Xbmc and porting as well as my D-link DIR -825 router.

I have no idea now what to do. I don't like to take up time for the donors to add their ideas, you all leave the rest of us behind in the dust.
This APP I believe, will be a great additional tool for my HTPC, SMART TV, and system.

I also have a Samsung Tablet 2.0 7" to use with Yatse but after I installed CBMC Starter I found that my system locked out UDP port 9 and 12.
Problems arise that I cannot work with since I am not close to the donors and TOLRIG in knowledge.

Thank you so much for your follow up for me. As you see I did take your advice.

Re: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - nickr - 2014-06-08

Turn off your windows firewall just to test.

The correct port is in xbmc setup - settings|services|webserver

Also fing can scan ports on your xbmc machine.

Re: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - nickr - 2014-06-08

Another test is to navigate to HTTP://xbmcmachineip:8080

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-06-08

nikr, again, I appreciate your input and patience.

I turned off Win7 firewall, no connect, same result.

I attempted HTTP://xbmcmachineip:8080 without success. Web search couldn't find what was entered.

XBMC setup - settings/services/webserver shows port 8080 and was entered in YATSE. I have an SSID for my network
and my only input for YATSE was display name, host ip and webserver port. How do I enter Wifi only and SSID info as suggested in WiKi
I can't get to a second page to enter additional details.

I read WIki, on debug info and I will attempt to do a log of YATSE and XBMC to provide necessary results.

FYI: I am running HP Laptop, Win7-64bit, XBMC in x86 environment. XBMC is 13.1 Gotham updated today from 13.0 RC1.
I have a D-Link DIR-825 router that is the center of my private/home network that has my desktop, one other laptop and my laptop running XBMC.
The router has port forwarded 50-70, 80, 8080, 8876, 9777. I have TIVO on my system with MoCA. All is wireless.
Win7 Firewall has 50-70, 80, 8080, 8876, 9777 TCP and UDP accepted.
PC PortChecker says my UDP 9777 and TCP 8080 is open

Yatse is loaded on my Samsung Galaxy Tablet 2.0 7"
I have an XBMC Official remote on my HTC phone but doesn't work either.

I'm not sure what more info is needed, other than the debug logs.
This is very frustrating to me and at my 72 years of age I would like not to be frustrated with this endeavor.

Whatever you or your associates can entertain it would be helpful. I shouldn't ask for more than direction, I learn more when I can accomplish my objective rather than someone to do it for me. you are too busy tto holdmy hand and I am embarrassed.

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - nickr - 2014-06-08

ok by xbmcmachineip I mean the IP address of your xbmc (windows) machine which is 192.168.0.xxx as you started above. So in the address bar of the web browser on your tablet put http://192.168.0.xxx:8080 (I assume you have referred to xxx for security reasons).

I assume you have both the tablet and the laptop in the same IP range, ie they are both 192.168.0.something.

Yatse has a setting here you can tell it to ONLY try to connect when it is attached to a certain SSID by wifi, but don't worry about that at present.

Some routers have a setting that stops machines on your lan connecting to each other, it only allows access to the outside world. On mine it is called "wireless client isolation" - yours may call it something else, or may not have that setting at all. Obviously if you do have a setting like that, you need to turn it off.

Anyway, small steps. Try the http://192.168.0.xxx:8080 in your android web browser.

Taking another look at fing, get it to scan your lan.

Then click on the xbmc machine and you'll get a screen that includes "scan services" - tap it.

It should come back with a list that includes port 8080, and there will be an arrow to the right of that, tap the arrow and it should offer to open the service in a browser. Tap that. What happens?

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-06-08

nickr: thank you for the reply. this is some hours later. Wife said time for bed, enough said.

I start again today. Your time zone and location is a little different than mine, her in Houston, Tx.
One question before I direct my attention to yatse. Yous see my name, It is Wellington, are you close to my
name sake, Wellington, NZ?

Now I entered the correct info on my tablet android, address bar, right this time. Please excuse ignorance or stupidity.
Either will suffice. Now you know my knowledge and/or senility!
Search found no website after I entered http://192.168.0.xxx(not x's):8080. The absence of result, means not connection?

I am taking another look at fing for the scan. It shows my ip for the laptop of workgroup\lorkit-hp(where xbmc resides).
Coming down, I see ports 135, 139, 445, and 554 but no 8080. I trust it should show 8080 if the tablet has an avenue to connect, is that correct?

As we talk, I see a request to click the plus button to increase your reputation. Would that be "QUOTE+" , just above to the right where I am entering this reply and when should I click it. I have more to learn than Yatse and networking. I will not hesitate to hit the plus to add to your reputation. My father always told me that you are seen and held in grace if your actions speak louder than words. You have my respect as one who appreciates your time with me.

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-06-14

Can't thank nickr enough by helping me get to this this point.

question asked was is the tablet and laptop in same IP range. Yes they are 192.168.0. 19x for laptop as host
for xbmc and 192.168.0.18x.

WiFi is set to connect always on tablet with SSID entered.

I don't believe my router has a switch that will only allow communications from outside. Not sure about this answer
so if anyone knows of D-Link routers I would like to pick up some info to guarantee that there are no restrictions.

I see no 8080 on my scan services on my tablet but I see all machines on my network.
I believe that means I am connected to my network "datalink24".

I am still not connecting from tablet-Yatse to laptop-xbmc. I should be able to communicate on port 8080 or 80 since each
are listening but to no avail. I have turned off my laptop win7 firewall and attempted to connect, but no such luck.

What simple thing am I missing? In my posts I wondered about Ipv4 or Ipv6, is that a problem?

Frustrating to say the least. Could use more help if possible.

Re: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - nickr - 2014-06-14

Ok so looks like you haven't set up xbmc correctly. On the xbmc machine navigate to settings|services|webserver and check that allow control of xbmc via HTTP is actually ticked. And the port is 8080. Take a screenshot if you are in doubt - press prtscr on the keyboard.

Christchurch is an hour from Wellington by plane or 4 hour drive plus 3hours on a ferry.

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-06-14

nickr, thank you for letting me know where Christchurch is located. Just had an interest in knowing who I am communicating with that is so gracious to allow their time.
I had no idea that I would be touching base with one so far away.

Ok. XBMC app. I am using Confluence skin on expert setting.

In settings, services I have device name of Media Center, not important!
webserver shows Allow control of XBMC via Http, Port is 8080, username is XBMC
and Zeroconf is engaged to announce these services to other systems via Zeroconf.

Another thing I noticed was external IP was not open for port 80 or 8080. I don't believe this is a problem since
ports are not associated with the external just the internal. Is that correct?

I appreciate the heads up on the print screen, I didn't know how to send a shot to this thread on my post.

I had no idea that I was so ignorant of networking. My variables seem to be overwhelming to me and I just have one tablet, one laptop and one router.
If I could verify each as working and set, the variables could be eliminated to only one problem.

Use the plus button on my keyboard or elsewhere and when to click it? your help has and continues to be very helpful and I want to acknowledge this to all.

Please have a happy father's day and good will to you until we speak again.

Sir Wellington

Put your image in a site like imgur.com and post the link.

Sir Wellington,

I am not sure if I can add anything more than what nickr was suggested, I recently had port forwarding problems with my buffalo router. The router wouldn't forward the specific ports I wanted until I turned on the Upnp feature on and off a couple of times. And then finally it remembered the port I wanted open. Good luck getting everything to work. Yatse is awesome with xbmc. Don't give up.

Cheers!

Thank you blueturtles, I appreciate your comments and I will not give up.
Yatse I believe is a good thing and I won't give up.

nickr the image is on IMGur.com and here goes to post the link.
Flying blind is uncomfortable but when I get it after your direction I will remember

Well, I copied and pasted but it should be highlighted I believe so just a click would allow the image to be viewed.
That was a Direct link so I am providing a second one maybe that will be -what is necessary.

http://imgur.com/sqgtkdN

that didn't do it either

Here is an HTML Image

<a href="http://imgur.com/sqgtkdN"><img src="http://i.imgur.com/sqgtkdN.png" title="Hosted by imgur.com" /></a>

Maybe this one will work.

I guess I need further direction. I have to say by following your suggestions I will learn a lot.
Teaching a rock is a bit hard to infuse knowledge.

Sir Wellington

well, SURPRISE, SURPRISE.

At times, by accident, things work.
Now I know, thank you nickr, allowing me to do it is fanastic.

Great job tolriq, I'd gladly pay for this!

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-06-27

Well it been more than 10 days since I last posted. Did I break the thread or should I change my name?
I' still hanging out there to dry and no connections.
I did set up android mouse to work with my laptop and tablet. I now control my mouse and keyboard with
my tablet. not that I want to use this setup. My intent was to say that I can connect with Wifi and use the tablet for
control. Something is working, so why can't I get to the laptop with Yatse and my tablet? is this a confirmation that
the tablet wants to connect to xbmc but either the firewall or router won't allow it. if so why do they allow andromouse
with andromouse desktop server as should Yatse

Just questioning! Are there additional ideas out there to work with.

Tolrig, I would very much like to take advantage of your handiwork since I know from a distance that you have
created a jewel. Thank you for your efforts

nickr and BlueTurtles thank you for support too.

Sir Wellington

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Tolriq - 2014-06-27

Well from your last post I saw it works Wink So nothing more to say.

I don't know all router and firewall of the earth so I'm not sure I can say more than Nickr.

As usual : http://yatse.leetzone.org/redmine/projects/androidwidget/wiki/Debug for logs maybe they can show something.
