RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-07-03

Well, I've called the button a radial for years. Its a radio yes. I used the term because its a circle
and there is a radius, hence the term radial. That wasn't my choice but others I have associated with.
My engineering days follow me.
I have no objection to calling it a radio button. We are on the same page, but you knew that. I stand corrected
for convenience.

I see what you mean about the webserver not turning on. I thought I started XBMC, turned on debug,
hit the radio button to start the webserver, exited from the screen to home and exited XBMC. I can see that I
did not accomplish that as you requested. I will pursue that again and send the debug log link.

As you point out, I see that there is a difference with GUIsettings.xml and the screenshot. I didn't realize the
correlation between the radio button in question and turning on the webserver at the screen.

I used the mouse to move the pointer to the radio button and clicked it. No keyboard contact!
Shouldn't there be some form of message on the log to show that action?

I will get this done in the am, its 11:00 pm here in Houston(Kingwood), wife says night-night..

Thank you for the follow up. Good day to you!

Well I did give you a series of steps, which you have just said you didn't follow. I said to turn on debugging, then stop xbmc, then start it - it is important to get a debug log right from XBMC startup. Again:

1. Turn on debug logging
2. exit xbmc
3. start xbmc
4. try to turn on http control
5. post your debug log to pastebin or xbmclogs.com and then give us the link.

That is not the same as
Quote:I thought I started XBMC, turned on debug,
hit the radio button to start the webserver, exited from the screen to home and exited XBMC.

Use your keyboard, XBMC is not designed for the mouse - although they can be used, I am not sure if it is collected in the log.

Why do I feel like this is a troll having a good run?

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - WilliamW - 2014-07-03

I hope the programmer of Yatse, as well as others, don't mind me just posting my question instead of going through the > 200 pages of this thread to see if my question has been answerred before Blush

(I also looked at the site of Yatse, but couldn't see the answer there neither).

I think Yatse is very well made. I'd like to donate to the good cause by paying for a license. I see the positive news is there is Paypal now.

Unfortunately, for me, the negative news is: I still have to pay via my smartphone (e.g. log in to paypal via my smartphone). I will not do that, since I don't trust my smartphone at all; I have no clue what it is doing, I do know all the apps I installed (and I only installed apps from more or less 'reputable' companies) ask way too many priv's during install, so I consider my smartphone not trusted (I even disallow it on my LAN, meaning I have a separate VLAN for smartphones and tablets).

So, would there be a way so I could:
A. Both pay the developer a beer/coffee on my behalf to compliment him with the nice work he has done, and, at the same time:
B. Be happy myself because of not using an insecure appliance?

I am no 'freerider', a 'hit and run' kind of guy; I've donated to many initiatives (XBMC itself, OpenElec, FreeBSD, Debian, to name just a few), but I simply don't trust the insecure model Android is.

So, a simpel paypal payment to your email address which would unlock the app?

Bye Big Grin

Just click the troubleshoot payment in app Wink

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-07-03

nickr-

I started XBMC, turned on debug logging.
I exited XBMC.
I started XBMC' started webserver.
I posted the debug logs with uploader.
I disengaged debug log and exited XBMC.

That's what should show on the logs.
Here are the debug logs for your review.

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=240096
http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=240097

bry- explain the "troll" comment if you would, sounds out of context.

I looked again at the logs, I see that websever started but no further activity.

I will look at GUISettings for webserver changes.
The GUI Settings are here to review.

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - nickr - 2014-07-03

Are you taking the piss here?
Quote:Private Paste ID: 1PLg3HJK
This is a private paste. If you created this paste, please login to view it.

OK looks like you have started the webserver. Is that reflected in guisettings? Now does yatse work?

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-07-03

I see that it was a private paste. Making it private was not
intended. I edited it to public and is viewable now.

I did start the webserver and it is not reflected in guisettings as you see
it is false. The indicator is not changed.

Yatse is not working

What would keep the webserver in guisetting from changing when the radio button is on?
Under what conditions would the set of instructions ignore that switch?

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-07-03

attempted connection from tablet says
"Error connecting. Check your settings and that XBMC is running."

When I stated that Yatse was not working in my last post, I meant that
Yatse could not connect. I believe it is doing what it is supposed to do but something
will not let it talk to XBMC.

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - nickr - 2014-07-04

I give up, but I'll make some observations.

The usual reason that XBMC wouldn't start the webserver is that something else is running on the port you chose. I believe we cleared that up with the netstat command, but you haven't given us the output so we'll have to take your word for it.

Is it possible that your guisettings file has become readonly or something?

Although your log says it is starting webserver, you get none of the lines following like I do
Code:
11:59:31 T:6504   DEBUG: ZeroconfMDNS: identifier: servers.webserver type: _http._tcp name:XBMC (hp1) port:8080
11:59:31 T:6504   DEBUG: ZeroconfMDNS: identifier: servers.jsonrpc-http type: _xbmc-jsonrpc-h._tcp name:XBMC (hp1) port:8080
11:59:32 T:6352   DEBUG: ZeroconfMDNS: XBMC (hp1)._http._tcp.local. now registered and active
11:59:32 T:6352   DEBUG: ZeroconfMDNS: XBMC (hp1)._xbmc-jsonrpc-h._tcp.local. now registered and active
Are you absolutely sure you have apple bonjour installed? I do, maybe you don't. Check in windows settingsImage

Re: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - nickr - 2014-07-05

Another idea, set up openelec on a USB stick. That will eliminate windows problems, and other programs occupying your ports. It won't touch your windows setup.

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - Sir Wellington - 2014-07-05

thank you nickr. I appreciate your help and direction.

I know its not an easy task to try to find answers from a distance and
from someone who doesn't have a working knowledge.

I've heard of using openelec on a usb stick. When I set up an HTPC in the
future I would like to use openelec.

I have a 16GB USB stick, but I don't know if it would be big enough. I have
instructions to set up openelec that way on my favorites, so I will check it out.

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - nickr - 2014-07-05

16GB is way more than you will need.

You never answered whether you had checked that bonjour was installed.

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - handbone - 2014-07-05

Sir Wellington

If the XBMC web server isn't starting, you should really be in the Windows XBMC support. Maybe try re installing XBMC completely If the web server is turning on, try making sure the port is forwarded to the right xbmc ip address and make sure the port you choose (which i recommend something random and not 8080) matches between your router, firewall, Yatse, and XBMC. And of course make sure XBMC is running when setting up Yatse. Also, make sure in Remote Control settings in XBMC that "Allow programs on this system to control xbmc" is checked.

I have multiple XBMC setups on the same network, with windows machines, using the same port number (92) for all of them. Just had to setup a port forward for each IP with my router.

RE: Yatse - Full featured XBMC Remote and Widgets for Android - nickr - 2014-07-05

So where are you forwarding the port? Most domestic routers don't block anything on the LAN. Maybe some do...
