Why XBMC AirPlay? - mealto - 2012-01-05
So what is the advantage of using the XBMC AirPlay as opposed to using the default ATv2 AirPlay?

I think its so you don't have to exit XBMC (or for people who boot to xbmc and never return to the stock home screen).

^^ what defbre said plus it adds airplay to devices/platforms that didn't offcially have airplay before (like windows/ubuntu etc...)
