Hey all,
I recently setup an atv2 and was streaming all types of movies. While streaming an h264 file, I did get some occasional buffering, nothing major, but still a bit annoying.
For a while I have been thinking of going wireless N, and I figure this gives me as good as a reason as any to get one. However, since my atv2 is my only wireless n device, I want to make sure it is worth it.
So my question is, will I see drastic improvements between g and n when it comes to hd streaming?
If it does, what do you guys recommend for a good wireless n router.

It's hard to say, given the environment around your house has so many variables (interference, other devices using RF in the same freq. rang), but generally speaking, yes it will improve things. Wireless-n routers also tend to have better range with existing b and g wireless devices. I often see good ones go on sale for as cheap as $30. ASUS is a good brand that I've had good experiences with.

Streaming media is more about stability (minimal dropouts) than high throughput. Streamed HD takes 20-30 Gbps tops, so even with overhead, you should be fine with G as such. Depending on how good your current router is there could of course still be stability gains to be had as well.
When shopping for routers I always start my fact finding at this site, which I find give good and balanced advice, plus they have some good interactive charts where one can compare various alternatives.

1 thing tho, playing 1080P via WiFi is never recommended...
some acheived great results while others didnt...
but since u have an ATV2, which limits you to 720P flicks,
you shouldnt have issues at all with those files...
i think u could definitely try with an WiFi-N router and see how it goes!
i myself use a Linksys N router and i have zero issues with 720P via WiFi!!

I can stream 1080p over WiFi using NFS and this 300mbps 802.11n router (I actually use two, with one is set up as a repeater two floors up). Streaming 1080p will never happen with a "G" router, even while using NFS. Bottom line is the faster your connection can transfer data, the better your experience with streaming video will be. NFS is icing on the cake which I highly recommend using if at all possible.

And here is an interesting product which can be used as Router, AP or bridge, whichever you'd like.
I'm not a user myself, but have installed it at a colleagues house (as AP) and it's been up and running and doing what it should for several months now without any hickups.
