Why ipad have more apps than atv2? and can we have hope that one day it will be possible to use ipad apps into atv2? thank you.

There is ONLY one atv2 app and that is AppleTV.app

I have been reading all around this forum but did not find an answer to what i want to do; maybe you can help me out. I have a FTA receiver to watch my native television channel on Satellite 97.0w.
I want to know if it's possible to use the ATV2 to stream from my Fta receiver? My ATV2 is on my bedroom and my wife doesn't want any cable laying in the bedroom.Thank .
