He,

RC2 works fine!
But the Final is not really fine......

Well, you are new here so........

What you've posted is doing no one any good. You need to provide more information on specifically what is not working for you.

1. What kind of files
2. What kind of PC hardware and software configuration, drivers, etc.
3. What kind of AVR are you trying to bitstream.

As you will find out from perusing this thread and spending a few minutes looking ,there are some cases where users have had issues due to mis-configuration or unsupported hardware (my AVR or video card does not do HD bitstreaming? Whoops!) and there are other cases where some specific files appear to have actual issues.

What you have posted is doing no one any good though and is a bit of a dis-credit to the people who have worked hard to bring us this release... you know, because it's FREE.

RE: [WINDOWS][PATCH]Bitstream output of HD audio formats - hakuya - 2012-04-10

Nice work DanielaE! Overall your patch is working really well for all but one of my movies. The movie in question is a straight M2TS dump of my Blu-ray disc of "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" (the Japanese release). If I select either the True-HD stream or the DTS-HD MA stream (amusingly this disc has both) it seems no audio is passed and the video freezes after a few seconds. The audio bitrate reported for TrueHD is 0kbps and ~213kbps for DTS-HD. If I select the AC3 stream, playback continues normally.

In the logs I see,

It looks to me like the audio thread is crashing (though I know very little about the inner workings of XBMC). If I tell XBMC that TrueHD and DTS-HD are not supported, I get garbage from my system. Audio is being passed through my NVIDIA Geforce 560ti to an Onkyo HT-R990. I also tested on Eden stock RC2 on another machine, and MPC-HC and VLC on this machine and all streams played no problem.

I've uploaded a clip with the first 50MB of the file: http://avalon.yi.org/~hakuya/innocence.bluray.sample.m2ts

RE: [WINDOWS][PATCH]Bitstream output of HD audio formats - gregnukem - 2012-04-10

I've also had problems with HD codecs bit streaming (both TrueHD and DTS-HD MA). My problem was that any time I switched the audio track (e.g., to another language, stereo etc.) and then back to an HD track, I would get no sound output. What helped in that case, was if I pressed play/pause multiple times very quickly, which apparently was not the most elegant solution by any means.

So I've read this whole thread and others as well and couldn't find a fix. Finally, my solution was to set the refresh rate to 50Hz. I am not sure how this is related, but now everything works flawlessly in the HD audio domain (apart from the 24-bit audio which is a different story).

My config is as follows: i3-2105, W7 Ultimate x64, Denon 2312, Panny plasma, latest drivers for everything, WASAPI. Should somebody want a log of the bug I can switch back to 60Hz, replicate the issue and post it.

Hope that helps.

Out of curiosity is this going to be included in official xbmc builds anytime soon?

Being currently available only for Windows, AFAIK, it is unlikely. For now...

Just to chime in... I'm also having problems with final, but works great with RC2.

TrueHD seems to work actually, but DTS-MA (Lord of the Rings, Avatar) both cut out and video is very sluggish.

Onkyo TX-NR609, AMD 5450, Realtek HDMI driver. Not sure of ATI driver version (probably latest as I just rebuilt).

Try these to see if it work with 60Hz.....

1. Set Denon to pass-thru video
2. Disable everything in XBMC settings/videos/playback as shown below-

star wars dts es http://tinyurl.com/6nxe348

Here's a dts hd master audio clip that bitstreams great for me with daniela's build

Hi,

Tested both in my setup (right now Eden 11 RTM + HD Patch in portable mode + Win7 x64 + ATI Catalyst 12.3). Sound send through HDMI from a Sapphire Radeon HD 6450 to the receiver Yamaha SR-301 (is the unit that comes with YST-S401 soundbar) and the two files play well. First one, showing DTS in the receiver. Second one showing DTS HD MASTR in the receiver.

I've not tuned yet my receiver nor my video/sound settings in XBMC so I don't have any experience with files longer that these ones.

I hope this helps.

Couldn't it just be included in windows builds?

When i download xbmc i have to select from linux, mac, windows ect..

RE: [WINDOWS][PATCH]Bitstream output of HD audio formats - Ghostdivision - 2012-04-11

Im also getting garbled audio with the latest version of the patch if i try using analog audio? Not present when using the official build. Is this patched version just meant for bitstreamed digital audio? I do not notice it when viewing movies in my library, but only when viewing streamed content in xbmc and analog audio with this patched version. HDMI bitstreamed works fine, analog audio works fine for streaming in the official xbmc build. Very confusing.

It also only seems to occur with a mono track...

So if i switch to analog audio with this patched version, try to view streamed content, and it has a mono track, its nothing but distortion.

Nope... this is a patch... a band aid if you want. The proper solution is AE which will be merged with master sometime soon apparently.

RE: [WINDOWS][PATCH]Bitstream output of HD audio formats - gregnukem - 2012-04-11

bluray,

Thanks for the recommendations. I have just tried those settings, but whenever I switch from a lossless audio track in a movie (TrueHD or DTS-HD MA) to any other sound track and then back to a lossless track, there is no sound output. If I then switch again to a lossy track the sound output resumes. Video part works flawlessly under all conditions.

Again - as soon as I switch to 50 Hz in the Intel graphics utility, everything works fine.

What I also want to know is whether there are any downsides of using 50 Hz instead of 60 Hz (aside from the "23.976 Hz issue")? I have tested 24, 23.976 and 25 Hz material and everything seems pretty smooth to me. I have not tried to catch repeated frames or be too picky, but at least I can say the playback isn't stuttered, slow/fast.

Hey gregnukem,

If you're running 50hz, you may see noticeable judder when panning on 24p (23.976) material.

Cheers

I'm wondering if it happen the same way with other media players (PDVD, TMT, MPC-HC, etc......

Have you try the latest Intel driver from here- Download Center?
