RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - awp0 - 2013-03-28

Any ideas on the following issue? This is XBMC 12.1 running on Windows Server 2012. The audio source that I use in this environment is SPDIF, but video is HDMI. Everything in XBMC works very well, but I can't get Xsqueeze to work at all.

I'm interested to run it as a player only. When I install the plugin and configure it with my LMS server parameters (IP address and CLI port), I receive a number of errors. I'm trying with Squeezelite as the player. The GUI flashes a few errors real quick and they're hard to read. The logs show this: http://pastebin.com/nsuZ4XFA

When I try to run Squeezelite from the Command Prompt ("running as Administrator") with the same parameters (or even any no parameters at all), I get this:

C:\Users\remote\Downloads\v255.9\win>c:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\XBMC
\addons\script.xsqueeze\resources\bin\windows\squeezelite.exe -m 00:00:00:00:00:
01 192.168.1.140
[00:52:31.176] test_open:417 error opening stream: Unanticipated host error
[00:52:31.176] output_init:1350 unable to open output device

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Take a look at this link: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?97766-Announce-Local-Player-plugin-and-Squeezelite-for-Linux-Windows-OSX&p=734537&viewfull=1#post734537

They reported the same error as you with Windows 8 (Similar code base as Server 2012)... and it seemed they needed to specify the output using -o.

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - awp0 - 2013-03-28

Thanks for the quick reply. This looks really promising and it appears that I can run squeezelite now with the -o option least remotely here from work. I'll see if I can get dreaming and sound later tonight. Thanks again!!

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - awp0 - 2013-03-29

Just as an update, manually running squeezeslafe from the command prompt and specifying "-o 14" (device 14 is my SPDIF output) works great. The player shows up and I can stream to it. But I still can't get the script to work. I'm out of time now, but I'll try to find some time later to post more logs. I may rather just run this from the command prompt anyway, using a different sound card. I only want it as a music player. Thanks again for the help!

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - bossanova808 - 2013-03-29

Something defintiely wierd going on -

00:41:24 T:6488 NOTICE: ### XSqueeze-0.9.9 ### Starting local player [], system is [windows]
00:41:24 T:6488 NOTICE: ### XSqueeze-0.9.9 ### Attempting to start player: ['C:\\Users\\Administrator\\AppData\\Roaming\\XBMC\\addons\\script.xsqueeze\\resources\\bin\\windows\\.exe', '-m', '00:00:00:00:00:01', '']

?...indicates it doesn't know what player to start, some sort of settings issue maybe?. Try re-configuring XSqueeze and make sure you hit 'ok' to save settings (don't use back!).

I'd actually nuke it and re-install (and the settings too).

Did you actually call your user Administrator? That path seems odd.

I have everything setup with the server and 2 clients connected, however when I try to play a file I get the following:

Thanks for the reply! I'll try from scratch later tonight. Kids are watching a movie on the system now Smile

And yeah the user is "Administrator". It's a Windows Server 2012 machine (I happened to have a free license). I think the default initial user was Administrator when I installed Windows so I just kept it that way. Now I use a second user just for RDP access. Everything seems to work fairly well.

Thanks for all your work on this. Cool plugin. I'm new to the "Squeeze" world, but I'm thoroughly impressed so far. Squeezelite is an amazing little program.

@all

Sorry was on holiday.

Let me know if you haven't worked out your issues (XSqueeze ones anyway Wink

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - nino - 2013-04-03

all sorted on my end, XBMC was stealing away the card but i managed to fix it.

Getting random audio dropouts tho using squeezelite

I have a media server (Acer Revo) LMS runs locally alongside XBMC, the XBMC is set to use 127.0.0.1 so there shouldnt be any latency

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - awp0 - 2013-04-04

Well, I uninstalled XSqueeze, stopped XBMC, and then deleted all xsqueeze related directories and packages that I could locate. I then reinstalled and reconfigured. In the configuration settings, I provided the IP address of the server, my CLI port (9092), my "-o 14" argument for squeezelite. I also changed the default mac address just slightly (to make sure some weird conflict wasn't happening). I was careful to select "OK" rather than hit the back button.

Initially I received the same "cannot connect to player" error. This time in the log I noticed that it specifies "squeezelite".

But I noticed that when I start squeezelite manually form the command prompt using the exact same command as I see attempted in the XBMC log, it works fine. Further, with squeezelite started manually, it appears that the xsqueeze plugin starts without error and streams music successfully. So the issue seems to be that it's having trouble starting squeezelite. I wonder if there's some funky permissions issue going on here, possibly specific to this server version of Windows. Not a big deal, but I'd be interested to know if you have any suggestions.

Latest XBMC log is here:
http://pastebin.com/w0rXRrkZ

PS: Nice plugin! I like it! Especially now that I've managed to start it Smile

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - bossanova808 - 2013-04-04

@nino - maybe ask on the squeezelite thread about that one, over the the LMS forurms...I don't really handle anything once the player is running, if you see what I mean - http://forums.slimdevices.com

@awp0 - it can't open the audio device -
19:10:13 T:8188 NOTICE: ### XSqueeze-0.9.9 ### ERROR RESULT: [19:10:13.494] test_open:417 error opening stream: Device unavailable
[19:10:13.494] output_init:1350 unable to open output device

-- something is hogging it. You're on Frodo latest (12.1) - right? In theory that should suspend XBMC's AudioEngine first...
19:10:11 T:8188 NOTICE: ### XSqueeze-0.9.9 ### Suspended XBMC AE
..that's XSqueeze trying to do it, and normally you then get an XBMC message like this above it:

13:37:22 T:6640 DEBUG: CSoftAE::Suspend - Suspending AE processing
13:37:22 T:6640 NOTICE: ### XSqueeze-0.9.9 ### Suspended XBMC AE

....(with debug logging on) - so it looks like this is your issue maybe? Do a full debug log so we can see better...but I am willing to bet something is not right in the audio suspending side of things. There's a windows AE support thread you could ask in....

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - Marsupial - 2013-04-04

awp0 you might want to consider using squeezeplugin simply as an interface. That's what I do on mine, I run squeezelite as standalone, and XBMC serves as an interface.

Bossanova's plugin is genius like that and takes the two options.

this way you get the advantage of having the possibility of displaying pictures or something else with your music.

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - bossanova808 - 2013-04-04

Yeah - that was actually the initial plan in a way - a big screen UI for exisiting squeezebox (real or software) - was the plan....

Genius is perhaps too strong a word but I'll take it Smile

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - awp0 - 2013-04-04

Bossanova: Thanks so much for looking at the log and providing more feedback. It sounds logical that it's having trouble taking control of the audio device. I'll try some tests with debug logging turned on to see where it leads.

Marsupial: Yeah, I think that's making sense. Thanks!
