RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - johnyb - 2013-08-08

Could use some help. I'm using Openelec (latest build) and still get 'couldn't connect to player' error. Any thoughts?

pastebin a full *debug* log

Also, after any update to LMS/XSqueeze, it's a good ide to reoot first the server and then the client. I have noticed LMS is a it stubborn about holding on to old connections and that can cause issues when the player binaries change it seems.

So rebooted LMS (running on PC), restarted Openelec with debuging set...Captured logs... http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=43685

Can you get squeezelite to run from the command line ok?

I've found these files but when I try to run them, none of them work..
openelecmediaroom:~/.xbmc/addons/script.xsqueeze/resources/bin/linux # ls
squeezelite-i386 squeezelite-i64 squeezeslave-i386 squeezeslave-i64

Eg
openelecmediaroom:~/.xbmc/addons/script.xsqueeze/resources/bin/linux # squeezeslave-i64
-sh: squeezeslave-i64: not found

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - bossanova808 - 2013-08-10

I suspect . is not in your path - so you need to run ./squeezelite-i64 for example.

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - bossanova808 - 2013-08-11

By all reports there are issues with Openelec 3.0.4 to 3.0.6 - so either roll back to 'stable' 3.0.3 or go forward to 'development' 3.1.5+ which apparently both work ok. I am trying to do so here now but the OE server is appallingly slooooow...

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - bossanova808 - 2013-08-11

hmm looks like it is still broken with OE 3.1.5

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - CaptainTivo - 2013-08-16

I love this app but I have one problem: how do you get Pandora to play on the native player? I can get it to work on my Squeezbox (hardware player) but not on the one included with the Xsqueeze plugin. Is there some recipe for that?
Thanks.

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - bossanova808 - 2013-08-17

Unfortunately that is a DRM issue. Pandora on SB requires a decryption plugin that the software players don't support.

Spotify works because a very talented guy called triode made a server side plugin to do the decoding there then stream the decoded stream out to the players - but Spotify's license is more generous apparently.

I don't think there is a way to get it to work easily I am afraid. I know it's not the same but maybe try Spotify instead, that works very well.

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - crackers - 2013-08-18

The Pandora plug-in will play just fine if you have a PAID subscription, which one should do anyway if one is enjoying the service.

Personally, I've switched to Slacker (and paid for a premium subscription) -- much better selection and "tweakability."

FYI, I note that the plugin does not display music info from the streaming services. My wife requests that at least the minimum stream information (artist, album, song title) be displayed for streaming plugins...

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - bossanova808 - 2013-08-19

It does display info from services (Spotify for example) - but that's the only one I use, and even that barely, so I haven't put time into it. Pathes from you (or your wife!) welcome!

So where would you like the patch delivered? Big Grin

RE: [RELEASE]XSqueeze - Squeezebox player, music chooser and visualiser for XBMC - bossanova808 - 2013-08-19

Ideally as a pull request to:
http://code.google.com/p/bossanova808-xbmc-addons/

But I'll take a pastebin of an updated file too, really - anything that works is fine

...is your issue.

Thanks for the reply bossanova. The ALSA thing fixed it. I guess I thought that had been taken care of in an update to one of the programs.

The problem I have now is the audio is very jumbled. My Pi is connected to my receiver via HDMI. Would this be a squeezelite issue?

(2013-07-31, 03:40)bossanova808 Wrote: Sounds like it - try gettign squeezelite to play back nicely from the command line. Then duplicate the command line switches you need in XSqueeze.

Course the Pi is an underpowered heap of doo doo so it might be you're hitting some limits...although it worked ok last time I tested it a few months back.

Finally had some more time to play around with this. Just thought I would mention that I fixed my audio issues. I had to add "-a 160" to the arguments for squeezelite. Doing everything in the Wiki got me close and adding that argument made the audio perfect.
